He took his time to hunt.

It wasn’t that he didn’t enjoy his Lady’s company – oh no, he loved it when she could be with him. It was just she was busy conducting research, their next targets failing to realize magic weapons did not have limitations when it came to scouring the internet and tracking their history.

Tonight was about closing a small hole that he’d known about, but left to wander since there had been bigger fish to catch.

Rescuing Marinette had been first and foremost; but, there had been things surrounding her kidnapping. Like just why had a young fashion design student who did some anonymous work for a few celebrities picked out? She never openly spoke about her work, only ever about school – but someone had known, watched, and had been – one could say – jealous.

They’d even put on a whole sob story for their interview while he’d been out searching for her and clawing into the belly of the beast – literally for some bodies, hehe.

Violet eyes growing then narrowing as he prowled onto the next roof, there they were. He could hear her true tone now while listening from this distance; the saccharine sweetness coating the bitter delight as the group talked about ‘poor Marinette’ and wondering what Chat Blanc could’ve done to her.

After a month with their new freedom, of course they hadn’t returned to classes yet. They could wonder a little longer, but he was done with conniving foxes taking delight in assuming he’d done something to his precious mate.

 There was something so delightful to see the fear grow in the group’s eye when they noticed his approach.

Even more when he saw terror fill hers before he pounced.

A silent and somewhat chilled night found her sitting upon their shared balcony again, cocooned for warmth in order to admire the lights that illuminated the evening. Paris was always a splendor to behold in the morning and long after the sun faded into the horizon.

The illusion such marvel cast to conceal the rotten underbelly really did amaze her sometimes.

And for how many people continued to fall for it…

The smile upon her tinted lips was briefly parted as she sighed, reveling in the sirens filling the night as she sunk further into her wonderful nest. She could just hear the news drift into her ears from the living room, Mme. Chamack just as frantic as the many reports proceeding tonight’s. How she wished she could be there in person and alongside him as usual, but he couldn’t. Magic or not, this was a delicate time. It was unfortunate she couldn’t share such momentous occasion happily with her parents.

Blinking at the thump behind her, she closed her eyes and hummed in delight, putting the melding scent of cologne-tinged sweat and sharp cooper tang, trusting him not to get his bloodied claws on too much of her blankets. His chest vibrated as he purred deeply, his face nuzzling the crown of her head and she caught him inhaling, trying to take in her scent just as she took in his.

“How was your visit?” she whispered, pressing her cheek against his arm. “Was he happy? Did his heart race?”

“Oh, ma chérie, I wish you could’ve heard it. It’s always fun to see that stony expression show even the barest hint of fear,” he growled, a fang grazing her ear. “And you… how did it go with your parents?”

“Mmm, they did their best to maintain their smiles, but they’re much easier to read than your father.”

Opening her eyes, the black was even darker around her glowing lavender irises, and her smile grew.

“I think… they’re still a little concerned about our choices. I know they tried to seek out Master Fu with Alya again.”

“But he’s been gone for years. Gosh, they should be proud of their daughter becoming a purrmenant savior of Paris!” She didn’t struggle as he picked her up and joined her within her nest – their nest. His stained white suit was getting blood everywhere, but she would just have to make him clean it up later. “They should be even happier now that this…”

 His brought a claw to her abdomen just beginning to protrude beneath her dark spotted suit. His own violet hued eyes glimmered.

 “… after everything. Finally, but too bad no one else seems to understand.”

 “How can they?” she murmured, settling herself against his chest. “This is our happiness now, minou…”

 His lips touched her temple before his arms wrapped all the more protectively around her.

“Looks like your weaving caught another bug, my Lady~”

“So it does, and what a disgusting pest it is…”

Her yo-yo’s thread wound around their victim’s legs – the criminal attempting to escape – and she drew them back into the alleyway. They tried to claw the ground, nails chipping and breaking, before they tried to pull themselves free of the string.

Lavender and lilac – the eyes of the once heroes glowed against the pitch blackness closing in around. It was only made more unsettling when the cat beast’s fanged snarl appeared.

“He thinks he can prowl around here…”

“Just like all the others. Don’t think we don’t know what you did at that bar.”

“I know…” There was a guttural laugh. “You’d think, by now, they’d know your human disguise…!”

“Awe, kitten, I thought you didn’t like sharing.”

“You’re right, I don’t.”

His white suit was darker – scented with wet copper.

Hers, it was hard to tell, but a similar drying smell lingered on it.

“But he’s the supplier.”

“And the big boss is next.”

The yo-yo string shifted around their throat and sharp claws came to press against his stomach.

“You’re free to squeal all you want, okay? After all, fifty scratches for sending out fifty people can be purrty painful! That and… well, nothing you tell us will make us stop.”
