Akrasa
The blind eternities recede and the Grigori arrives in Akrasa, the city where angels kiss mortals and mortals ride on lions. The streets are of a grass so green it rivals that of Your Excellency's estate and so sturdy lion paws do not disturb it in the slightest.
Receiving the blessing of an angel is a reward for martial courage. The knight defeats their enemy and accompanying the tender kiss receives a sigil of honor that distinguishes them from their peers. However, throughout his stay, the Grigori did not see a single angel descending from among the white towers where they make their silent flights. An old knight explained what was happening: when peace was finally reached with the nearby nations and the common people stopped having interest in tournaments between knights, the angels were left without mortals to kiss. The honor sigils are now used as currency, and the huge lions to drag carts of cereal. In the squares, crowd cheers and music can be heard all day product of the theatrical performances which are now the main pastime of the city. The old knight said he once saw an angel so stricken by loneliness that she descended upon a stage to kiss an actor brandishing a wooden sword. The judges thought it was part of the play and it won the first prize of the festival. The prize was a thousand sigils.
