"Bleed Out" by the Mountain Goats is truly the song of all time for characters who can't quite die, characters who are both incredibly suicidal and so repressed that they don't know they're suicidal, characters whose attempts at sacrificing themselves for the greater good seem honestly more self-destructive than anything else, and characters with a very distinct sense of foreshortened future, and naturally as someone who loves those types of characters and has created very, very many of them, I am insane about it.
