After a while, I’ve finally drawn/painted something related to Ogmos (our fantasy world) again. I’ve been thinking a lot more about it lately. So, I guess I should be able to share some lore in the relatively near future.
For now, here’s some lore about this drawing/watercolor in particular:
This human is named Asha. She’s from Akesh, a region home of several rivers, and for being the birthplace of the Ekeshet culture. The Ekeshet are a human culture, known for their fishing, agriculture, trades and city-building.
However, Asha comes from a farmer family in the countryside. Coming from a relatively modest family however didn’t stopped her from having a colorful outfit. Indeed, several plant dyes are easily accessible where she lives. The most accessible dyes for the commoners being red, blue and yellow. Each having its own symbolic in Ekeshet culture:
- Red symbolizes blood as a source of energy ❤️ - Blue symbolizes water as a source of life 💙 - Yellow symbolizes the earth as a source of fertility 💛
Meanwhile, green and purple are restricted to certain class or occasions (more on that another time I guess).
There are also an abundance of river molluscs, as well as some trade with coastal regions. Thus, the Ekeshet in the countryside use a lot of seashell beads in their jewellry, while metal is more common in the cities.
Another specie making its home in the region is the river wyrm. Having one as a companion is seen as a sign of good luck by the Ekeshet. We’re not sure yet how to name the water wyrm companion of Asha. For now, we’ll go with Drizu.
(Btw, how could we name an artwork that mix pencil drawing and watercolor? A drawatercolor? A waterawing? A waterdrawing?)
