He leaned against the pool table at Penguin Sniper, waiting for Akechi to take his shot. After the detective had come back into his life, Ren didn't quite know how to feel about him. He'd tried to kill him! Twice! And yet, losing him on Shido's ship had hurt so much. He wanted him back so badly. And now he was here...
"I know you said you hate me. But I don't. Maybe it's hard for you to believe, but I genuinely like spending time with you."

There was definitely a bittersweet sting to seeing Akechi again like this. Ren had thought he was dead. He'd set up a shrine and given him funerary rights. He'd moved on. At least, he'd thought he'd moved on...
But the moment he saw that familiar face, all that went out the window. All those old feelings came rushing back to the forefront, finally freed from the vault of his mind. After all this time, here he was. If Ren had to pick, he'd say this was a pretty good surprise.
"Well, I never expected I'd ever see you at all. I don't really don't care what day of the week it is. I'm just happy to see you alive."

"I'm fine Akechi." Kamui said in a weak attempt to play it off. Letting out a curse as he tried to sit up, but it still hurt too much to do that. Of all the things to happen and it wasn't cause he got into a fight with a dragon of earth; this time it was his own carelessness.
"If anyone asks, please don't tell them that I got into a fight with stairs and the stairs won; make it a cool story." He tried to joke, though he was still a little shaken up; and he likely had a concussion and a sprained ankle.

Kamui nodded as he tried to dry his tears. "Thanks Akechi, I'm going to be alright it's just been a lot." He had just gotten back from the hospital after Subaru lost his eye, and he was already shaken up from Daisuke's death. He couldn't help but think that everything that had happened was his fault.
