I watched the “Legend of AKB48″ documentary today and it was actually pretty interesting. Some takes I got:
Pretty much everyone is in agreement that AKB is not at the same level during its golden era. The bar the Kami 7 set was really high. Sadly no one knows how they can get back to that point and fans are turning a new leaf.
There is an increasing lack of motivation within that group and it seems like most of them are just doing it just to do it. Luckily, with the new team captains, we may see a change with the dynamic of the new group.
idc what anyone says. Yuihan was a good leader and she really did her best to keep everyone stable. But, it really did seem like some of the other members weren’t trying enough for her goal towards another Tokyo Dome.
Miichan seems more lost and confused than ever. She’s a good leader, but she doesn’t interact much with the other younger members. What killed me was the part where she felt like she was “watching her friends graduate while she still was held back in class.”
It’s no surprise that Jurina is a workhorse and would risk her own health at times. But, she really wants SKE to excel past all the other 48/46 groups.
Yuirii is actually an interesting character being crowned the “Theater Goddess.” She understands the importance of the theater and how that propelled all the original members to stardom.
Yukirin didn’t talk much, but she really has become a mother figure towards the younger members.
Overall, “the new AKB48″ is an entirely different group. The old group had reached their peak and this new group has to start from scratch again. It will definitely take a lot of time, but they have their goals set.
