While I’m busy working on the topology map, here’s a sketchy preview of an updated design for the akada.
I tried tweaking a few of the design elements that weren’t really working, like getting rid of the segmentation of the shell, making it clearer how the arms attach to the body, and reshaping the face to look less human. Feeling more satisfied with this.
"Akada" (1979) by Elizabeth Olowu; Nigerian
WIP akada internal anatomy reference. Full photo also includes front view and hiding-in-shell view. This will take a while to finish.
Completed the reference photo for how an akada's internal organs are laid out. Each organ system and their most noteworthy traits will be indicated and explained under the keep reading barrier.

Trying to get a better grasp on how Akada anatomy works in 3d space. Current biggest struggle points are the grooves between each shell segment and the inside of the mouth.
For the first time in what feels like months, I have created something akada-related.
Here, I attempted to brainstorm what their different types of clothes might look like. The main challenge here came with the fact that the clothes can't cover the bottom of their foot, otherwise they won't be able to move, meaning all I can really give them are capes and very long shirts. Not satisfied with the colors on most of these, nor am I entirely sure how some of these work in 3D space.
All of this is fairly messy. I am still not very good at digital art.
