"a little lavender, a little lilac with my pain and agony" sounds like a line from a Romantic poem. but instead it's a Samoa Joe quote from an IRL interview, in which he explains at length that he prefers to choke AJ Styles bc his hair smells good

2007 TNA is my heated rivalry
AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe at TNA’s Turning Point on December 11, 2005
New favourite dumbass TNA segment. In five minutes, you have Christian and Joe bickering while AJ eats a banana in the background. Joe calls AJ Woody from Cheers. AJ makes cocktails, which Joe throws in Christian's face. AJ breaks a ukelele over Joe's head to no effect, and Joe chases him around the ring Tom and Jerry style. Christian then beats Joe over the head with a coconut. And it's all wrapped up in the context of Christian hatecriming Joe with an island themed talkshow to make him "feel at home."
lord.

Hell in a Cell, 2018
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
new ajjoe fic is up! it’s more of a Joe character study than anything, based on his 2018 promos with AJ but set in 2005. also sort of based on an interview (which I can no longer find) where AJ recalls a match in which Joe actually choked him out. these two have completely taken over my brain.
Samoa Joe locks AJ Styles in a rolling cradle at Sacrifice 2005, resulting in a poorly aimed Pele kick from a disoriented Styles.
