So, I dont like short fics as much because the moment you get pulled in, it's over and you have to find a new one. Anything over like 50k is my preferred length, but the longer the better. I know most people talk about how they used to speed through books when they were little and no longer can, but I still do that so I can pick a 150k+ fic and just read it in a day, and it keeps my attention all day so I can actually focus on something. It gives me something to look forward to and reward myself with. I have to do the dishes? Ok, ill read and do that, then get ten minutes of pure reading time. Laundry? Same thing. I think it just comes down to some people like long fics and some dont. Can I ask why you prefer short fics?
Ooooohhhhh fair. Tbh I get annoyed at being interrupted when reading 'cause I have to get into it then get out of it then get into it all over again so by that point I normally just loose interest.
And yes you absolutely can!! :D The main reason is because my favorite thing to read ever is just hurt/comfort where a character is getting calmed down from a panic attack,,, and that just can't be done with long fics??? I mean, like, it can, but it can't be the only thing it long fics???? (I'm bad at explaining this I'm so sorry) I really like just only that with then some fluff + maybe the build up to the panic attack.
ALSO!!!! Like when I'm in the mood for pure fluff or like cuddles n stuff??? That just can't be stretched out to be long??? 'Cause like there's no way to make big fics out of just cuddling??? Like big fics actually have to have PLOT and stuff.
And I really enjoy searching for fics!! (unless I'm not finding anything close to what I want) ^^ Reading tons of different summaries and different people's way of writing similar scenarios is really cool I me!!;;
Also I normally dislike soulmate aus, cheating/break up/divorce fics, and aus where one character is turned abusive on another. (Also people who like these are 100000% valid and awesome, they're just not my preference) So that knocks out quite a bit of options for longer fics. ;-; (especially in hurt/comfort)
Tbh the longest fic I've read in over a week was only like 14k words (It was Liquid Courage by Quarantinevibes btw 10/10 I highly recommend it. It's hurt/comfort all around and Roman especially gets some much deserved comfort).
