#ain x reader

The Elgang began panicking as you fell, wounded, and covered in your own blood. Elsword held onto your nearly lifeless body, tearing up (in a very manly fashion), caressing your head close to his chest. He pet your (y/c) hair, whispering “Please… Please wake up, (y/n)…” Sobbing was heard for what seemed like hours–despite it only being about ten minutes–he, Ain and Aisha continued praying to every possible higher power they could. 

Eve solemnly spoke up. “(Y/N) is… Gone…” She pauses and hangs her head. Her voice becomes hoarse. “I’m sorry.” 

Everyone seemed to lose some light from their eyes. No one can truly believe you’ve died. Chung and Ara have already stained their cheeks with tears. There is silence until a dark purple light started to envelope you. Right before their eyes, your entire body seemed to change. Your ears and teeth sharpened. Those (y/c) eyes of yours changed to a deep red. It looked like the transformation you went through was painful. Ciel recognized this event all too well. Lu gasped as she lifted one of your hands, inspecting your new “claws.” She can’t believe it. 

“(He’s/She’s/They’re)…” Rena knelt before you as you took a gasping breath for air, looking at you gingerly with her motherly amber gaze. “You’re alive, dear.” Raven held his arm out to you and smiled as he and Elsword aided you to stand. You were wobbly and dizzy, but you felt more than happy to see everyone so relieved. 

You coughed. “I can’t believe you all thought I’d be taken down by something like that. C’mon, guys!” You pointed to a fallen demon and laughed weakly.

“W-we thought you were -hic- dead, (Y/N)!!!” Aisha hugs your shoulders, wailing into your ripped fabric. Ara and Elesis can’t help but join into the hug. “I knew you could make it,” Elesis grins and rubs your head. She sniffles, “I knew you wouldn’t die.” 

Eve nods in agreement with a soft, meaningful smile. “Welcome back.” 

Add, following Eve, crosses his arms and turns away. “I knew you’d make it. You’re not that weak.” He averts his eyes towards you and grins. “Glad you’re back, kiddo.”

Everyone took turns asking if you were alright, if you’re hurt, if the teeth and ears and sharp nails felt weird, et cetera. All except a certain celestial… Ain was silent throughout the whole time you were with the others. You cautiously approached him, reaching for his quivering shoulder. “A-ain..? I’m sorry for the scare-”

He turned in an instant and wrapped his arms and fluffy coat tightly around you. “How could you startle me like that? I can’t believe you’d be so cruel to me, (Y/N)…” Ain’s eyes leaked tears onto the top of your head as his lips shivered. 

“Oh, Ainchase.” You smiled to yourself and hugged him equally as tight. It kind of hurt your arms, but it felt nice. “I’m sorry I almost left you,” you sigh. “A-and came back in a form like this.”

“Nonsense!” He raised his voice, which caused you to jump. “It doesn’t matter what form you are. Human, merperson, or even a half demon… What matters is you’re alive. You’re here. You’ll continue to be with us for another day.” He releases you from his celestial grip to kiss your forehead. “We love you. I love you.”

“What are you doing?” Ain asks before you manage to touch his lips.  You look up at him.

“Kissing you.”

“Kissing,” Ain repeats, as if it’s a foreign concept.  “Why?”

Ah, hell.  There’s no harm in telling him now.  You take a deep breath and grasp his cold hands in yours.

“I love you,” you say, making your voice soft and sweet.  “I want to see if you love me back.”

“I don’t love anyone but Ishmael.”  Ain’s reply sounds automatic.  You give him an annoyed look.

“Just kiss me once.  If you don’t like it, I’ll never talk about this again.  Please?”

After a moment of deliberation, Ain sighs and leans close.  When your lips touch, you feel a thrill of electricity run down your spine.

Ain’s lips are cold and unnaturally smooth, but quite soft.  It’s a chaste kiss.  You don’t get to taste him.  He pulls away after a few seconds, staring down at you.

“Is that what you wanted?”

You can’t manage to say anything.  He hesitates, then drops your hands and turns away.

“Don’t speak of this to me again, please.  I don’t wish to lose your counsel.”

You watch Ain quietly as he stares back at you with happy, dead eyes. You wonder why he decided to choose you over anyone else that was closer to the two of them. You sigh deeply and continued to watch the Celestial.

“You promise? You won’t leave me right?” Ain asked suddenly. “Cause if you do, I’ll murder them!”

You sigh again and told him. “Of course I will stay with you. It seems as if I can’t talk to my friends or my family anymore.”

“Your performance in battle will drop if you keep carrying on like this.”

Those aren’t the words you wanted to hear from Ain.  You twist to look up at him, standing over you as you sit on the front porch of the inn.

“Is there something you need?” you ask.  To your credit, your voice only shakes a little bit.  Keep it together.  Ain sighs and sits down next to you, and you feel a prickle of electricity run across your skin where his arm brushes yours.

“Elsword told me to come out and make sure you’re okay.  So.”  He awkwardly pats your shoulder.  “Are you okay?”

Far from it.  But you’re not going to tell him that, he’s too dedicated to his mission and to Elsword and to whatever the heck he thinks his Goddess is doing.  He’d reject you in a heartbeat.  So you just… smile at him.

You actually got up early for this shit.

You yawn as you pour the chocolates into the mold, checking the time.  Damn, have you really been up for two hours already?  Time flies when you’re agonizing over your annoying boyfriend’s annoyingly early wake-up hour.  With luck, you’ll get these chocolates hardened before-

“What are you doing up?”

Shit.

You find yourself laughing nervously when you turn to face Ain, as if that’ll help your case.  “Nothing.  What are you doing up?”

Ain stares at you and wordlessly points to the window.  Right.  Sunrise.  If the sun is awake, so is Ain.

“I was about to go pray for Ishmael’s guidance today.”  Ain walks over to you, shoes clicking quietly on the linoleum floor.  “What are you making?”

No point in trying to hide it now.  You sigh and move the molds towards him.

“Chocolate.  For you.  For Valentine’s Day.  Um, happy Valentine’s?”

You were expecting a hug, a smile, something positive.  But Ain just tilts his head and raises his eyebrow.  “Valentine’s…?”

Is this another priest-who-grew-up-under-a-rock thing?  “Valentine’s Day,” you repeat.  “You know, the day where couples get together and exchange chocolate and say sappy things…?”

“Oh.”  Ain is quiet for a moment.  “So you made these for me.  For Valentine’s Day.”

You smile at him, not sure what to say.  Ain studies you for a moment.

Then he leans forward and gives you a small, uncertain kiss on the forehead.

Ain: “What’s wrong…? Why are you crying? Why are you hugging me?” 

Lofty:Executor: “Hmpth. You shouldn’t cry just because of this. Humans are too emotional, you appreciate the smallest of things too much.”

Lofty:Anpassen: “Ah. You alright?”

Lofty:Wanderer: “I don’t understand, but… I’m here for you, just like you are for me.”

Arme Thaumaturgy: “I… I’m sorry for that. I know that was important to you…”

Erbluhen Emotion: “Hey hey, I’m here for you, just cry it all out, okay? I’ll be here to support you.”

Apostasia: “…”

2p!Executor: “Interesting. Your behavior is unusual…~”

2p!Arme: “You cry and run over to me, how amusing for you to be so attached…~” 

2p!Anpassen: “You’re not making any sense. Why cry for humans? It’s only one out of a million.”

2p!Erblu: “Ah… dejecting, isn’t it.” 

2p!Wanderer: “Hmhm~ It’s sad! So sad!~”

The sight of Arme constantly pushing you away slowly irritated him. At the start, he’d tolerated it - you and he weren’t close, and both rejected each other’s presence. It’s all too amusing to watch them, and to make remarks on how Arme was a pathological liar. Doesn’t Arme know that lying is but a sin? That even the whitest of lies will etch a place for hell. Celestials must have it easy.

But now, you accept him. Accept everything about him, his flaws, his strengths, his rejection towards you. He might be more accepting of it, had Arme changed too. He wonders why you wouldn’t leave him in spite of his masked truths. He’s still as arrogant as ever.

“Hey, do you ever just feel like he’s a jerk?” he asks one day, red eyes tracing over a glass cup filled with vodka.

“Yeah. He’s an absolute asshole… doesn’t compliment me that much, stays relatively silent, gives me incriminating glares when I try to brush his hair…” the list goes on and on. The man in black hums, picking up the glass and leaning it towards your direction.

“Why don’t you just break up with him and leave with me, then?~ I can assure you I’m at least more honest.” Ba da boom. The shot has been fired.

“No thanks.” And it’s been blocked.

He sulks, gulping down the whole glass before laying his head on the wooden table. “And why is that?”

“He’s too cute. And he has nice hair.”

Erbluhen Emotion gets super jumpy. He’s a right mess of himself compared to normally. Clumsier, he tries to ease into it but he says something and everything gets really awkward. He laughs it off, blushing like a beet root.

Arme Thaumaturgy is in a plain up sour mood. He’s conflicted. He wants you, but he doesn’t want to betray Ishmael. This results in him trying to act on what his body wants, but his mind taking control halfway through and somehow ending up on the floor.
