James' knuckles knocked lightly against Cecilia's door, and he waited for her to answer -- if she even would -- holding the bag of Chinese food.  It was a peace offering, and he was well aware that she might throw it in his face, but he had to try.  They'd had a few attempts to hash it out over the phone, and a few text messages over the week, but none of that was working.  He missed her and he needed to see her face and apologize in person.  They usually spent so much time together, so having her absent from his day-to-day life just felt weird and empty.  After a long silence, he knocked one last time, raising his voice slightly, tilting his head right up to the door.  "Baby, I brought your favorite."
