Why do you think Ahaankar is considered as sin in hinduism? Can you give examples of what happened to egoists in hindu puranas?
For example:
Suppose a rich disgusting man with bmw looks down on poor farmer's maruti 300, should it be condemned as per Hinduism?
I personally have problem with the whole concept of sin. I might go into this later on but to stay on point Ahankaar or ego causes one to over indulge in Maya тАФ the veil of illusion that obscures our perception of reality, particularly in the context of the material world. Maya is also associated with ignorance (avidya) and the cycle of suffering (samsara) that arises from attachment to the material world. But Maya is what keeping this world alive.
Unregulated ego directly cause one have attachment, anger, greed, delusion etc. i say unregulated because just like we come in this world to suffer we also come here to enjoy material pleasure and if you keep denying whateverтАЩs been given to you, you might just take another birth to over indulge and do your due karma anyway but that's another way to see it.

There's some level of Ahankaar in everyone and in kaliyuga A LOT. But only when ego causes one to do harm to others and ourselves тАФ for example Mahisasur was filled to the brim with ego that caused him to do horrific things then only any divine intervention was made. And in every instance when their battles with divine is talked about, we read the ego of this Rakshasha was destroyed.
тЖС Another way to look at it is when one reaches a certain level of egoism, the divine intervene to тАЬkillтАЭ or liberate the soul from it. You can either take the stories literally or symbolically, I do the latter.
Honestly to me, a rich disgusting man with bmw looking down on poor farmers car is one of those things that will ADD onto this rich disgusting manтАЩs karma bag along with whatever behaviour that made him disgusting and PLENTLY of other things.
