“ no, quiet doesn’t really seem your strong point. “ eliza smiles slightly though her expression falls. she believed in speaking your mind and standing up for what was right, but she also felt a person had to know when to stand down, when to say ‘enough’.

“did i?” she hesitates, trying to find the words. he’s so familiar, and eliza feels as though she knows him in her heart, but she knows that logically she doesn’t. thankfully, she always tends to let her heart guide her and that’s why she doesn’t shoot his notions down too quickly. “what else did i used to say, alex?”

“Don’t be crazy!” Tris couldn’t help the idea of aliens, thinking of them to be little gremlins or adorable glow in the dark figures with a single eye. “Aliens aren’t real.” She added with an arched eyebrow, head shaking so her hair felt into her line of vision. “It’s just us and I doubt aliens will ever be here.” 

“Well I wanted to. . .but you seemed busy and I didn’t want to be a bother and ruin your train of thought.  You could have been thinking of something important.” 

ginny pulled her knees up closer to her chest, looking over at her best friend as he went on about potion ingredients. merlin she barely remembered anything from potions, having blocked out most of it, especially the lessons with snape. most of the time it was him yelling at all the gyffindors and making fun of her for being a weasley. it wasn’t exactly the time she’d liked to remember. in fact, she was surprised neville was this passionate about all of this, considering all he went through at school. then again, he had always loved herbology.. “merlin, neville, i barely remember. i wasn’t exactly the best student at hogwarts. right, it’s also used in a sleeping potion, yeah?” she asked, throwing him a smile. “did i pass the pop quiz?”

The light that often flickered across Luke’s face had seemed to dim, replaced with something far more solemn and heavy, as though a shadow has casted over his features. Blue eyes once bright and vivid had faded into a more dusky cerulean shade, streaked with flecks of grey. Luke gazed at her for a moment, really looked, before a morose smile quirked at the corners of his lips. ‘Maybe that’s what being a hero means. Maybe all we can know is blood and death and war.’ The words tasted like metal leaving his mouth, bitter and acidic and wrong. But maybe not entirely untruthful. ‘Maybe that’s the price we must pay.’
