I feel a great misconception of the "opening of the third eye" is that it allows you to see into the past and the future or open you up to a myriad of extroverted (and lets face it, with the unnatural experience of it, uncentered) experiences.
However, it isn't so much an opening, it is a crossing over which integrates the past present and future allowing the evolution of your human soul to ascend through the sahasrara connecting to the divine.
To spend time meditating on or concentrating on this agnya chakra can cause more damage than good, resulting in momentary outer bodily expereinces. This force that is put on the agnya means that it will block or 'catch', and to truly experience the divine becomes difficult.
Reaching this level where the kundalini can cross over and up can only be achieved spontaneously at the will of the kundalini and effortlessly through centered meditation.
To reach this level when in a trance like state can be dangerous and so appealing that it can fool you into thinking it is truth.
But next time you meet someone with these fantastic stories, ask yourself and assess them; does the divine shine through their being? Do they carry themselves with pure joy and innocence? Do they genuinely have an easy presence with themselves and others?
When on the journey to truth, to be blinded by negativity that appears so amazing is incredibly easy. But one way to tell if it holds truth, assess the happiness of others, how have they benefited from this? And assess the greed of the guru.
