Aging Asks: #5 -what's your favourite piece of furniture and where did you get it?

6. Go-to recipe when you want to make something that requires minimal effort?

This one for something warm and hearty and filling. I just made this last night for the first time in ages and can't wait for the leftovers soon! I think we even made this for our Christmas dinner one year! I have settled on my version after reading some of the top comments and experimenting, and it's an excellent base recipe for that! This will make you sleepy lol.

Weeknights, this would be a go-to. Very fast meal and really delicious! Whole thing takes 20 minutes, including browning the beef!

17. Are you a member of any clubs or associations?

I am not. In college, I was in the co-ed music fraternity Delta Omicron, where I ushered concerts on campus and did various service projects, but that's the most official thing I've been a part of, I think.

29. Do you have houseplants and how are you keeping them alive?

The green thumb skipped this generation in my family, sadly. My mom was the big gardener and plant keeper. I can kill cacti. I do, however keep a vase of grocery store flowers in my bedroom window near my desk for a little color sometimes. I feel bad when they wilt, but for $5.00 and a week of pretty flowers, I'll take it!

16. how long have you known your oldest friend?

honestly a question i feel a little embarrassed by. I am not that good at keeping up with people, historically. So while I might have a few that I keep up with over social media, I'd say my oldest friend that i speak to regularly is actually my partner (9 or 10 years???) I guess I do have a friend from elementary school that I text (ike 4 or five times a year when one of us has a birthday or holidays and stuff). We haven't seen each other or had a meaningful conversation in probably ten years, but we've known each other for maybe 18 years? not sure if that counts though.

23. what's the coolest place you've ever visited?

i do actually have to say Venice for many reasons. fun fact about me is that there's this Magic Treehouse book called Carnival at Candlelight and it's based in Venice and i read it when i was maybe like 6? Afterward I found out that Venice was 'sinking' and i cried to my mom about it for an hour because I wanted to go so bad and was convinced I'd never get the chance (because it was sinking) ANYWAY, I did finally get to go for my honeymoon and everything about it was fantastic. Definitely did all the touristy stuff and i don't care i loved every second and I'd love to go back and spend more time there. When my husband and I were on our trip, we went to multiple places in Italy so I think we were only in venice for like 3-4 days? I'd go again at the earliest opportunity, and in fact when i daydream about a big move, Venice is probably what I dream about most.

14. what's a hobby you'd like to get into?

I actually took up yoga a few months ago! Which was really fun, and felt nice. But then I got a new job and haven't really been back /: I'd really like to, at some point! It was a good way to force myself out of the house and also move my body, which are both things i definitely need to do more. So I'm hoping that when I'm out of the busy season at work (😅) I'll find time for it again.

20. What's your favorite beverage?

GOD I love a fancy little drink. If I'm getting myself a treat, it's probably a beverage of some kind. Fancy coffee, smoothie, juice. But I think on principle I have to say a Taro milk tea, as I've gone out of my way to get one multiple times in the past few weeks.

1) what's your favourite kitchen appliance?

My air fryer. I love that thing. It's so great and such a power saver for cooking when there's only the two of us. Especially since the oven in this flat is really inefficient. Though I will give a shoutout to my grater box as well. That thing is badass!

5) what's your favourite piece of furniture and where did you get it?

I have a medical recliner that I use as a desk chair and it is my favourite chair I've ever bought. I got it from a company called CareCo same as I got my wheelchair from and I am thrilled with it, honestly.

28) what chore do you hate the most?

Cleaning. Like just general cleaning I hate it. I'm a somewhat messy person just in general so it takes a lot to motivate myself to clean.

19. How many wisdom teeth do you have and have you had any removed?

I had overcrowding, so had a lot of teeth removed during my teen years (I say a lot, like, 4, but still) but I can’t actually remember if they were wisdom teeth or not 😅 I think they were 🤔 Maybe the lack of wisdom is why I can’t remember 🙂‍↕️

23. What’s the coolest place you’ve visited?

Easily has to go to Japan, my holiday there earlier this year was incredible 🙌

6. What’s your go-to recipe when you want something that requires minimal effort?

Well for truly minimal effort, I’ll just chuck an oven pizza in, but guess that’s not really a recipe huh 🤔 Other than that I’d have to say a basic tomato pasta, chop some leek and peppers, throw a can of chopped tomatoes and some olives in, boil the pasta and combine. Oh and oregano. Lots of oregano.

15. Do you collect anything?

Books! Mountains and mountains of unread 🌝 books and manga volumes 🙂‍↕️

20. What’s your favourite beverage?

Ooh now that really depends on the occasion 🤔Out with friends, I like a standard pint of beer, but I’m also partial to a cocktail — at home I’m all about the tea and coffee, especially the coffee 🙌
