Jacques: I'm a big meal sorta guy. But you can tell just by lookin' at me, haw! High in fat and rich as well, usually. I keep my physique in great shape, don't ask about the cholesterol. Not always metal, I got other tastes! I'm thinking about pork buns right now, even. That sounds like a great dinner.

Jacques: No. Why? I don't know all her friends or work buddies. Steven's pretty private anyhow. She doesn't do small talk, so I doubt she'd be telling me.

Jacques: Nothin' too exciting. I liked knowing the names of flowers in the backyard, but they were just weeds to Mom. I also understood in the back of my head that being into prissy stuff like plants wasn't the right thing for a tough metalhead like me. Stuff changes when you get older, though, and especially when you get away from your parents. I do like soft stuff, an' I do like seeing plants flourish, so it was nice that this shop had an opening for employment. Actual plant nurseries like it best if you got a degree like Steven's got, so that's just not so much in the cards. Maybe if I get some years of experience under my belt it'll look better on a resume. Anyway, if I didn't work at the shop, I wouldn't be too beat up about it. I'd find somethin' else and keep growing flowers around my house.

Jacques: I'd like to say that Mom tried her best, but you an' me both know that's not true. The stairs had to be reinforced, though, 'cause even as a lairon, I weighed almost half a ton. There was a sand pit in the backyard for me to bathe in, and Dad was ecstatic to get me metal snacks and rough stuff to pummel, like sandbags and punching bags. He wanted me to do all the big, rough boy stuff since Steven was a girl. Now, outside that... Ma didn't love when I left scratches on the doorframes, and I broke the toilet like four times.

Jacques: I seen her around school, and then Steven was being a real goofball when she got that crush on her. I think we didn't meet all formal-like at any point, I just started seeing her more often once she was hanging out with Steven, and it's one of those encounters where you're like, "Oh, I've seen you around before," and you don't ask follow-up questions. You just slowly learn more stuff about 'em.
