I know right?? I cannot remember how smol she was when we brought her home because she is so big now!! Still smaller than Solstice though, which I hope remains the final result. :0
#5 and #9!
yay questions!
#5 -Â what inspires you to write?
So many things! Â Many times I get this idea in my head that I just have to get out. Â These are the stories I love whether anyone else does or not, because I just had to tell them and put them out there.
As I write fanfic, usually a particular dynamic will inspire me and Iâll want to explore it from a million different angles in a million different universes.
Sometimes itâs anger and spite. Â I used to write more fix-it fic than anything (until I became to broke to fix anything anymore). Â
Other times itâs just wanting praise, negl. Â Sometimes I ache for it and write something just for the hopes that someone out there will love it and tell me so.
#9 -Â a passage from a WIP
Aw man, I usually love this question but I just so rarely write fic anymore that I donât have any WIPs that I have any intention of ever finishing. Â So how about an idea instead? Â âCause Iâve been playing with the idea of a Pirate AU where Clint is a merchant whose ship is taken by the captain of The Widow, and her all female crew of pirates. Â So he joins Captain Rogers on the Liberty to try to track her down and bring her to justice. Â He just wants his ship back, thatâs all! Â It has nothing to do with being a little bit smitten by the gorgeous Captain Romanoff... :D

Australia Day is on the 26th, the Aussie media is recommending that everyone take Monday off as well, because well, it would be good if everyone had a long weekend. (Source:https://www.facebook.com/7NewsQueensland/videos/1093973647282153/)

Clintasha fic: bars
I probably could have made the prompt word more significant but instead thereâs this
Clintâs not stupid, even if he acts like it sometimes: he knows full well he and Natasha are in deep shit.
And he can admit that maybe it wasnât the best idea to rush in after Natasha all half-cocked, but what choice did he have? SHIELD â he doesnât even know if there is a SHIELD anymore, and all he had heard from her up to that point was a quick text: SHIELD infiltrated by Hydra, trust no one. Which isnât reassuring, but isnât nearly as frightening as the complete lack of response to any of his attempts to contact her. She hadnât answered any of her phones, even her burner ones, and Clint had been beyond worried. He had told himself she was out there in the thick of it and didnât have time to answer him right then, but that offered little comfort. Heâd been dead wrong, anyway.
With that handy little âTrust no one,â he hadnât had anyone to turn to. Maria Hill, maybe, or Phil, but Phil had been off with his team and he didnât know what was happening to Maria. So when he got the call, there was nobody to call on. Just him, just like it had always been.
Clint canât remember the last time he had been as scared as he was last night. Right on the heels of Natâs text, his phone had started to ring, and when heâd answered, it had been to screams and the sound of Tashaâs voice. âThank God,â had been the first words out of her mouth when heâd picked up, carried on a breath that was closer to a sob than anything else, and thatâs when Clint had known. âClint, wherever you are, you need to get the hell out, theyâre comingââ
Then Clint had been treated to the sounds of guns volleying through his cell speakers and Natashaâs voice had lowered. Heâd tried to talk to her â whatâs going on and stay calm, okay? and tell me where you are and Iâm coming to get you, Tasha and youâre going to be okay â but he hadnât been sure how much she had heard. All he knew was that one moment, he was shouting reassurances through the phone while trying to gather his gear in a blind frenzy as Nat relayed coordinates to one of the SHIELD bases in San Francisco, and the next, more gunshots and Natâs voice cutting out mid-word. Clint doesnât think heâll ever forget that heart-stopping moment when there had been nothing but gunshots and silence and heâd thought that she was dead. Heâd had some scares before, times he never thought could be topped, but this had been right up there. For one single moment he had been absolutely sure that his partner was gone.
That fear had been quickly dispelled, to be replaced by an equally horrible one: the agents who had captured her either hadnât seen the phone or had been intentionally luring him into a trap, because theyâd told him everything he needed to know about who had her and where theyâd most likely be.
What choice did he have?
It had been a trap, one he had waltzed right into. He doesnât think heâs been captured so neatly since SHIELD first got their hands on him; usually, he puts up some semblance of fight, but this time he had been so caught up in his hero act that he hadnât even noticed the guns until they were firing. Just tranquilizers, mind, but it was more than enough to take him down.
So now heâs here, chained to a fucking wall in nothing but his boxers and undershirt, accompanied by a pounding head, aching muscles, and an irate Natasha. âSome rescue,â she hisses. âWhat the fuck were you thinking?â
Clint canât look at the arm she cradles to her chest; every time he glances at the twist of bone beneath her skin he thinks heâs going to be sick.
âSteve better be a damn sight better at this than you,â she all but spits. Fury tautens her entire frame, and Clint doesnât meet her eyes. âBecause you suck at the whole rescuing thing.â
âShut up, Nat,â he says half-heartedly. He deserves everything she throws at him â he managed to get her moved from her low security cell to one in the fucking center of the action. It looks old fashioned â bars and padlocks like something out of an old fifties movie, painting a stark contrast against the sterile white backdrop of the hallway â but the electronic keypad and round the clock guard detail isnât what he would call a downgrade.
âReal bang-up job you did there. Somehow, you made being incapacitated and imprisoned by traitors in a covert base worse. I had a plan, Clint, Ever heard of those?â
This doesnât sound like the rational, unshakable pillar of calm Clint has come to rely on, but he reminds himself that sheâs hurt and that this is her right. Natasha Romanoff is, without exaggeration, the most competent person he has ever met and will ever meet, and she probably would have gotten out of here just fine if it werenât for him coming in and screwing up all her plans.
âAh yes, Clint Barton, codename Disaster Walking ââ
âNatââ
ââ somehow, and I donât even know how this is possible, manages to fuck up more than usualââ
âNatasha.â He says, his tone flat and his voice pitched low.
She knows that voice, knows what it means, and she shuts up immediately. She glares at him with a fierce intensity for about ten seconds before she deflates before his eyes, all her anger seeming to rush out of her in a single wave of defeat. âJesus, Clint, Iâm sorry,â she says, scrubbing the hand attached to her good arm across her face. âI didnât mean that. Fuck, Iâm so sorry.â
Clint lets it roll off of him, pretends her words donât sting, especially on the heels of New York and Loki and everything he had done, and says, âItâs okay.â
âNo, itâs not, I just ââ she shakes her head.
Clint swallows. âNatashaââ
âWhat were you thinking?â She repeats, but this time she looks up and Clint is trapped in eyes as green as dewy grass under the light of the morning sun. âYou had to have known youâd get caught, so why in the worldââ
âTasha,â he says. Her face is covered in blood, one cheek is blackening and the other is sliced through the middle with a score of narrow cuts, and Clint doesnât think heâs ever loved her more because he understands. She doesnât have to tell him that she doesnât think sheâs worth it, that sheâs scared and that she doesnât want to see him hurt or killed and that she canât watch horrible things happen to him and that she loves him because Clint meets her eyes and he knows. âDid you think I was going to leave you in here?â he says gently. âTasha, look at me. Did you really think I would abandon you?â
She shakes her head wordlessly. Clint pretends he doesnât notice her lower lip trembling. âIf the odds were a million to one that I could save you, Iâd still take them. You wanna know why?â
Her gaze ducks away from his and she shakes her head again, this time forceful and fast in a clear denial of what heâs about to say. He wishes more than anything he could hold her, but he canât. âLook at me, Tasha,â he murmurs instead.
She does, and the corners of his lips turn up. âBecause life isnât really life if youâre not there with me,â he tells her, and he could swear her eyes grow shiny. âYouâre everything to me, Nat, donât you know that?â He rolls his eyes. âFor a spy, you can be pretty dumb sometimes.â
And if the short laugh that bursts out of his partner sounds closer to a sob, Clint isnât saying anything. âShut up,â she croaks.
âWeâre going to make it through this, okay?â
Clint is easy with his promises, but this one is loaded with meaning and sincerity and Natasha immediately nods and cracks a rather shaky grin. âDo I have your word on that, Barton?â she says.
For a moment he forgets that theyâve been captured by people they used to call friends, forgets that his head is killing him and Natâs arm is broken, forgets that heâs chained to a wall with little prospects of getting free, and for one moment they are just Natasha and Clint. Just like itâs always been. Clint smiles. âAlways.â
One-sentence headcanon: Water
Bucky finds that floating on his back in swimming pools or the ocean with the metal arm propped on a floatie, his ears beneath the surface of the water and his eyes closed, is a remarkably effective way to calm down when it all gets to be a bit too much; all sound is muffled, and he can breathe easier, and for a few minutes he is at peace.
