chuuya did not enjoy being picked up or carried. this was something he’d told dazai over and over since they’d been partners, and yet he doesn’t quite have the energy to kick or fight when he feels dazai lift him this time, though perhaps that could be due to the fever that’s been gripping him over the last few days despite many attempts at proving that he’s not at all sick. seems dazai had seen right through that lie, like usual, and chuuya doesn’t bother to try and break free of dazai’s hold this once, though he would at least attempt to do so usually.
❛ hey! ❜ chuuya mumbles wearily, though the way he clings to dazai only suggests that he’s not going to struggle against the other’s grip. ❛ i don’t – ’m not sick. put me down. ❜
this is the second time he’s had to carry chuuya since chuuya left the mafia, and truly, dazai is thankful that in chuuya’s current weakened state that he is unable - well, somewhat - to squirm too much. chuuya’s not even that heavy, all things considered, but dazai has never been physically strong, which is why he’s glad chuuya’s at least not squirming or resisting, because dazai might actually drop him in that case. carrying him while he’s not resisting is okay, dazai’s not that weak, but if chuuya started kicking... well. plus, picking him up like this, dazai gets to see up close just how feverish and unfocused chuuya’s glare is even as he complains. really, so stubborn...
“i’ll put you down soon enough, relax, i know you hate this.” and he means that, dragging chuuya away from the couch to set him gently in the bed instead. “i’ll get you a cool cloth and some medicine, so just lay there and rest.” he’s clearly not buying the lie.
