For the ask game: 2, 5, 14-16, 18 <3
Thanks for asking me, sis! I really really wanted to answer #2. :)
2. What was the first moment that they knew they were in love with their LI? Etri: he fell in love first. With Blythe it was before book 1 and before Adair, when Blythe was comforting him through a panic attack and he woke up to find her still there with him and still holding his hand. With Adair it was when Etri pulled Blythe and him over to the shadow plane when the two were being chased to get them away; Adair was freaked out about being somewhere so weird, but as soon as he saw Etri he got a big smile on his face because he knew he was safe. Etri realized how much Addy trusted him and that set Etri falling head over heels in love.
Adair: it was with Blythe first, when the dorks finally caught up with the thief who had stolen Adair’s art. Blythe jumped into action and started chasing after the thief, falling into like perfect sentinel mode with a plan and everything. I’m picturing Addy following her with heart eyes. Etri was later that day; Etri said something about how he thought Adair might be dating Sol and Adair got all flustered because he realized that he *really* wanted to date Etri. Normally he doesn’t care if someone assumes he’s dating someone, but he didn’t want his crush to assume that lol.
Blythe: she was the last to realize because she’s grey-romantic and also very much in denial lol. This is spoiler territory, but basically things got dangerous and she was afraid for Adair and Etri and she realized how much they both meant to her almost too late.
5. How do they comfort each other when they are sad? The way to make Adair feel better is always to give him hugs and snuggles, so that’s an easy enough fix. Etri, surprisingly, likes jokes. Like if he’s feeling sad, Adair can always cheer him up with really bad puns and Blythe can make him smile by talking about something ridiculous Sol or Dray did. (And to be honest, something silly Adair did even when Adair’s sitting right there lol.) With Blythe… they try to do something extra nice for her, like bring her a plant or a skein of yarn. She likes when they take an interest in her interests and that makes her smile again.
14. Is their anything they associate with each other?I feel like it should be knives Etri and Adair associate with Blythe, but it’s actually flowers. There’s one she likes the most and this is kind of “her” in their minds. With Etri it’s definitely stars because their first date was stargazing and also because he showed his trust in them by rolling up his sleeve (he never shows much skin) and showing them the tattoo of his favorite constellation. For Adair… it’s gotta be dessert. I mean, Adair got on Blythe’s good side when they first met by bringing her a bribery pie and he finds out later that this is Etri’s favorite dessert, too, so I think he bakes this a lot for them.
15. Does their view of themselves differ from their partner’s view?Definitely. None of the three think really they’re good enough for the other two (or at least it’s “they could have anyone, why do they want a mess like me??”), but the other two just think they’re incredible. I mean, obviously they also can see where they others aren’t perfect, but they definitely see the good things that the others miss by being self-critical.
16. Jealous at all?Not really because it’s always been the three of them from the moment Adair entered Blythe and Etri’s lives. He slid into an already solid friendship like he had always been there and from the time they met, they spent as much time as possible together as a trio. Although Blythe does get jealous when she and Etri are away from Adair for a bit before they start dating. She thinks Adair only gave Etri some of his magic paint and not her, then she rolls her eyes at herself because why is she jealous of *paint*? (It turned out Adair did give this to her, Dray just stole it when she wasn’t looking lol.)
18. Is their any way they disappoint each other? There must be something, but all I can think is how the self-critical thing makes them think they disappoint the other two. Maybe that’s it, they get bummed that the other two might think they’re disappointments?
