Sometimes I'd see people on World Chat or Discord bashing Azora(Gorgonna)/Perseus for being toxic and I'm like...
Come on guys that's the whole point and appeal of that ship😅
Also some people blame Azora for not being honest with Perseus but... how could she? That's the core tragedy of their relationship. I do blame Azora for enforcing a bloody death cult upon the Wildborn, but I can't blame her for not telling Perseus who she really was. She's a fascinating character because as a god she's absolutely abhorrant but as a lover you could sympathize with her. The relationship was based on deception but the feelings were true and genuine. Yes very sick and twisted, but nevertheless genuine. I also like that she loves as a god would, very one-sided, coming on extremely hard, the power balance totally off and not caring about or truly respecting what the human thinks, but still "loves" them in a very destructive, overbearing way. There's a reason god-mortal relationships don't work out in myths.
I actually wanted to see more of Perseus and Gorgonna (Azora), especially since it's a bit ambiguous whether she knew who he was and was seducing him on purpose or ran into him by accident. The first time they meet Perseus finds her surrounded and threatened by beasts so he saves her, and she's intrigued that he'd save a Wildborn. The thing is she couldn't have been in real danger because right after it's shown that she can control the beasts even in her Gorgonna form, so why was she acting like she was being attacked? The most likely explanation is that she was pissed that Sarethiel believers (Halians) were encroaching upon her territory so she decided to seduce and kill Sarethiel's champion or at least get some intel out of him. But at the same time she doesn't seem to know who he is at first, though that could have been an act as well. Honestly though she could have just snatched him up and kept him drugged in her chamber right then and there...😅 Or maybe taking away his freedom was a last resort even for her, and she planned to see him again after her hibernation was over.
Personally I wanted to see more of their relationship since they were the image on the Resonating Hall during ToD, but I guess some players would have been bored seeing more flashbacks. When Starry Tales was added I kind of hoped they'd include stories that couldn't be contained in the main or side quests, but so far it seems to be mainly for introducing Celehypo lore since very few of them feature in the quests (which is understandable since their appearance anywhere is a huge deal). Don't get me wrong I'm enjoying the stories we're given, just wanted more.
Also I somehow find it hilarious that Azora created a race of hot furries whom she abuses and then falls in love with a smooth-shaved hunky human himbo😂 And it's funny how he's not the only Halian man who's into furry girls; quite a few side quests and Easter eggs feature Halian soldiers who are in consensual romantic relationships with Wildborn women. Yet there's only one example of a Halian woman dating a Wildborn man; I believe an NPC mentions her Wildborn boyfried near the bridge around the Fateful Path update. Perhaps it's because the Halian military seems to be mostly men (there does seem to be female soldiers though we never see them; the side quest about the Halian man who gives children candy made from hallucigenic mushrooms reveals that his daughter was a soldier who died in combat.) and the most contact they have with the Wildborn during the early part of the story was in an invaded area, so I guess it makes sense. Still kind of funny that quite a lot of Halian men we see are into furries.
