Golden Hour at Luke

I happened to be photographing a high school golf tournament at Pecan Valley near Benbrook Lake this past weekend when this Boeing KC-46A Pegasus tanker passed overhead on its way out of Carswell/NAS Fort Worth JRB. ⁣ ⁣ This particular tanker is 17-46025 and was delivered to the Air Education and Training Command on 18 May 2019. I believe this particular airframe is assigned to the 97th Air Mobility Wing at Altus AFB, Oklahoma, for crew training. ⁣ ⁣ Within the wing, the 56th Air Refueling Squadron has responsibility for KC-46 Pegasus training. ⁣ ⁣ Prior to being reactivated in 2016 to become the training unit for the Pegasus tanker, the unit was the 56th Military Airlift Squadron 1965-1968 training crews for the Douglas C-124 Globemaster II before transitioning to the Lockheed C-5 Galaxy in 1969, becoming the USAF’s first Galaxy unit.
