I’m not defending the artwork as a whole, I am saying is that coloring is also extremely important to a work just as the linework. 

Also Frank Miller didn’t decide the colors, he worked with a specific colorist who was his wife ‘til they divorced in 2005, and often times if another colorist comes on, it’s decided by DC. In fact the other artist’s post that I linked to, mentions that after showing his recolors of Frank’s work, DC still said they’d stick to the other colorists rather than him.
