GM "Aerotrain" in Rock Island suburban service, seen here departing LaSalle St. station past an interesting assortment of baggage and RPO cars. Transferred from the Chicago-Peoria run to suburban service in 1957, these really would have been something interesting to ride, especially on less than optimal track! They were out of service by 1966. Locomotive 3 and two of its cars are preserved today at the Museum of Transport near St. Louis, and another is at the museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
