More fun ace things I've been noticing lol. Ok, so since I was a child, I knew that usually the characters (who were mostly women) in movies who dressed 'provocatively' & were promiscuous were bad but I always felt some sort of admiration towards them (despite the usually horrendous dialogue or character writing that made most of them one note, I still felt respect towards them). Ironically I thought they were beautiful & would've loved to meet the if they were real . I found this funny cus even after I was ace I still loved them & found it ironic how most of my favorite characters have been like the usually 'promiscuous' ones who I mostly headcanon as being on the ace spectrum. I obviously won't name all of them but 2 comfort characters who i like headcanoning as ace are Angel Dust (Hazbin Hotel) & Jessica Rabbit (Who Framed Roger Rabbit) which is ironic cus most people sexualize them. And like idk i guess i just love ace characters who are "hot" but like have agency of they're own??? Or at least prefer to have agency of their own..
I adored them because I empathized with the stigma around them & s*x as well as the sexualization & objectification of these characters. Which not only addresses directly the problem I've always had with media sexualizing traditionally "feminine" people & traits but also helped me understand my own experience with asexuality more & the variety of people on the spectrum.
Not only that but a few of my own characters, specifically Aedo & Ninon are on the Aroace spectrum. But Aedo is the one who faces more blatant harassment & sexualization while Ninon is treated like uncaring & careless. Neither is true for either of them although they both have their own problems & stories, but both won't be around their identity & orientation. Aedo's will due to the perception of herself & growing out of the mindset of needing to be perceived by others (but that's for later)...
(Also I think it's kind of funny to headcanon characters who canonically have/had s*x to piss off aphobes but also to explore the variety of relationships people have with their sexuality & [if they have any] partners who are or aren't on the spectrum!)
