First coming out:
So many times, I see a young trans person anguish about their parent's reactions to them coming out. Here's a reminder that parents may grow into you being trans.
For instance, I was confident that my father would never truly accept me as ftm. Initially, it certainly felt like he hadn't. I felt like he didn't want to try. But, he was, I think. Now, about a year later, he's grown into my identity. He's much more understanding of trans issues, and I can openly speak about being trans, just so he knows what's going on.
Just like I had to get used to being trans, he had to get used to it, too, though as a parent.
Give them time. Who knows, because soon, your parents will suddenly grow to understand who you are in such a beautiful way.
