The Palace of the Lost City
This is where we stayed for our whole trip. I was so excited even just by seeing photos of it. I knew it was grand as hell. It was literally a palace within the city. Lost city as they say, because it was a bit secluded. Away from the other cities and surrounded my mountains and trees. A little far away from the high way.
Entering its premises was a jaw dropping moment for me. I couldn't help myself from saying "OMG", "aaaaah", and "this is amazing!" all the freakin time because it was that majestic. Being there made me feel like some kind of an ancient greek goddess as if I was transported back to the past living with the other gods and goddesses. It was such a magical moment. I loved every part of it and how intricate its details were.
We arrived there at around 9am. Check-in time was actually at 2pm, and since we were early we decided to leave our bags first at the concierge and started exploring the hotel. Everything was picture perfect. The dining area was exquisite! Somehow, I was reminded of Titanic due to it looking like the dining area of a cruise ship where rich people gather together to eat while sipping their expensive alcoholic drinks. There was a piano, big chandelier and a humongous centerpiece. It actually has two other restaurants inside.
We got to try the grill room on our first night. I had there pork club steak, my tita ordered some kind of a chicken dish and we also had some seafood platter and creme brûlée. I was kind of disappointed though because the meat was a little tough. My stomach also wasn't feeling that well at the time, I guess it was adjusting since dinner time there is already around 2am here. We also got to try The Plume and it was fancy af. We only had soup, salad and dessert since we already ate at a restaurant located at the Sun Center. My tita just wanted to try it out because she has been reading a lot of reviews about it. She read bad reviews about the place but we had a great experience. The service was excellent and the food was great.
At their main dining area you can choose to sit outside to have breakfast and we tried it on our last day. Birds are just flying by around and they don't even touch your food. It was nice to be facing such a lovely view as I sip on my hot chocolate and eat my meal. The buffet also had a lot of options. You get the traditional english breakfast like eggs, sausage, ham & bacon. There were also African food. You can diy your own omelette, waffles, pancakes and crepes. There's also a variety of fruits to eat.
Inside the hotel was also a pool area called "The Valley of Waves". I actually got to try it and it was so much fun! Waves comes in every 9 minutes or so. It's a bit tiring though. It's not the usual wave that you get to experience at wave pools here in the Philippines. The waves felt like you're battling with the waves of the sea. I tried going a little to the middle and when the waves hit I was literally dragged back to the shore. Hahaha.
They also have this high slide called "Temple of Courage". Even before we got there I was already browsing photos and doing some research about the place. So when I saw it I just knew I had to do it. And so I did. A lot of people were there on top before me. Some already sat on the slide but chickened out in the end so they let me went in first. I wasn't nervous or something because I really like trying extreme and adventurous things. Although I screamed for a little while but somehow it stopped as I reached the middle part because it felt like my stomach dropped or something. You know that feeling where your soul detaches with your body when riding rollercoasters. Hahaha that's how it felt. Anyway, I survived and so I moved on to the next slide.
I did try the tube slide as well. However, it was not what I expected. I though it would be transparent and I'll be able to see streaks of the sun and of my surrounding but nope. It was pitch dark inside and I got scared. I was telling myself "what have I gotten myself into?!". Hahaha. You won't be able to tell whether it'll be a twist and turn or you're sliding the hell down. But I guess that's the fun part. It was scary and thrilling at the same time. The last one I tried was the lazy river. You just literally sit in a life buoy and let the water move you. It was the perfect ending after trying out those extreme and somehow exhausting slides. I actually wanted to try the longest slide but there were a lot of twists and turns and I didn't think I could make it. Hahaha
There was so much to explore at the hotel. In the whole Sun City actually. We also went to the maze. And before you get there you have to pass by the hanging bridge first. The lady said it's not that difficult but man we had such a hard time finding the exit. It seemed like we were just going around the same way and every time we thought we were almost there we end up reaching a dead end. We found a couple who was able to find their way out but they started at the exit and they decided to gave it a second try by starting at the entrance. However, it took us awhile to figure out the right way. All in all it took us about 30 mins to get out of that freakin' maze. Man, it was so tiring. Hahaha. We had icecream afterwards as a reward to ourselves.
All in all, I had such a great time staying at The Palace of The Lost City. Everyone was so nice, especially the staff. They always greet you or say hi to you. They're also very accommodating and helpful. I love how they always check on you to make sure you are okay and is having a great time. I really felt like a royalty because of their quality service. We even had a personal butler who delivered our dinner when we ordered food in our room. They also replenish the fruits in your room everyday and gives you complimentary drinks and water. Would definitely rate this place 10/10. You won't only have a grand experience but visually stimulated as well. Everything in it was pure art.
