I love how this ad plays with well-known horror film characters. If Mike Meyers (Halloween) is holding onto Chuckie (Child's Play) in fear, the "next generation of scary" must definitely be scary on another level. The ad is playful and humorous, while getting the point across that Screamfest is a worthwhile Independent Horror FIlm Festival.
Another humorous visual to carry out the message. Various Halloween characters are shown peeing into urinals, emphasizing that they drank. And what'd they drink? Heineken, "the beer drunk most of Halloween." The array of characters show how "diverse" Heineken drinkers are. On a side note, it's kind of funny that Dracula's legs aren't spread apart like the others...
I've seen another version (perhaps the original? a copy?) that says, "Heineken. Official sponsor of Halloween."
Universal Studios Hollywood
The visual at first has nothing to do with Halloween. The copy fits the messages usually seen on pillows like that, yet the second part, "Especially those who run slow" makes one wonder. After reading the message to "Live the nightmare" by visiting Universal Studios on Halloween, it all comes together. I found the ad successful because the ad isn't obvious as a Halloween ad. It utilizes humor, too, instead of fear.
