Biography: Portia was born in India to a fairly privileged family, and was interested in biology from the moment she knew how to hold a pen. She went on to become a doctor, working in India for a few years. She only moved to England after meeting her future wife, Lucy, at a science convention - she wandered into the wrong presentation, and ended up listening to her present about theoretical physics and its applications to certain fields. They started talking afterwards, and fell for each other pretty fast. It was only then that she chanced coming out to her family, since she was finally independent enough. Like she’d expected, they didn’t take it too well, but her uncle was - contrary to her expectations - fully supportive. He helped her out until she moved to England, and they still maintain contact to this day.

She and Lucy eventually got married, and then had Piccolo 9 months later. Whilst he was growing up, she was balancing home life and working at the hospital well enough that she got a promotion - which led to Lucy and her divorcing. Portia wanted to stay, and not uproot Piccolo, but Lucy had recently gotten a new job that would have her on the other side of the country. It started off as a discussion, but things got more and more heated until they split up. However, the subject is pretty closed off with people, and Portia still harbours feelings for Lucy.

Appearance: Portia’s on the short side, and fairly thin, with brown hair down to her shoulders that she often styles loosely, but she puts it back in a tight ponytail when she’s at work. She has brilliantly green eyes and noticeably small ears. Outside of work, she usually dresses in loose shirts and trousers, often with walking boots, since she has two dogs to walk through the countryside.

Personality: Portia is almost overbearingly supportive of people close to her. She’s all for people following their dreams, but at the same time, she’s incredibly logical. She’s got a good balance of the two, but now and then, they can become unbalanced, and she needs someone to give her a little tap on the shoulder to keep her head on straight. She’s very loving, but she has a hard time expressing it in ways that others recognise - it generally expresses itself in little gestures and simply spending quiet time with them. By contrast, when she’s angry, it’s very obvious. She’ll make the reasons why she’s angry clear, and then leave the person she’s angry with alone until she can calm down - then she’ll attempt to make the steps forward she has to, be they a resolution or a break off, or whatever she needs to.

Favourite & Least Favourite things: Portia loves - more than anything else - her son. She would do anything and everything to get him what he needs to grow into the wonderful person she knows he can be. By extension, she also loves Piccolo’s baking, and often says it’s better than store bought (it is). Her favourite thing to do in her spare time is either patchwork and knitting, or walking her dogs.

As for least favourites, she has no tolerance for people or things that test her patience, especially when they seem illogical to her. She’s also not the best when it comes to technology, and still owns a Nokia brick. Piccolo has tried to get her to update more than once.

Strengths and Weaknesses: She’s brave, mentally strong, and extremely intelligent. However, her strong adherence to fact and logic make her a terrible liar. She’s also fairly weak physically.
