Hello!

I can’t speak for my fellow Admins, but I haven’t been able to take care of this blog PROPERLY for a LONG time… Just so everybody knows, this doesn’t mean I’m giving up on it or anything! It’s just that life got a hold on me, with college, work, and I barely have free time now ;w; I don’t intend to give up on this blog or jumping out, neither closing it, but it has become really difficult to manage everything with the time I have, and all I’ve mentioned leave me pretty tired at the end of the day too.

I’m REALLY sorry to all of you who are STILL waiting for your questions to be replied and for critiques! I feel horrible T_T I’m so sorry you guys. Being an adult is hard =/

But well, we haven’t been able to be active this last times, due to all the stuff to deal with in our real lives, you know… These things happen, unfortunately. I WANT to continue with this blog, but it’s hard to get caught up with everything after spending so much time away and all :< So I can’t promise you anything soon, with all the things that stacked up to do here and the lack of apt time, but I want to be able to come back here and continue reviewing everybody’s OCs when I can.

So… In essence, feel free to submit your OCs for critiquing, we’d love to review them when we can! I just really sadly can’t promise you that anytime soon, because of all our busy schedules :( But this blog’s still gonna be here, and if all you guys don’t mind waiting (I can’t even predict to you how long, sorry), we Admins will be very happy to keep providing you all help and advice. ♥

Yeah, for real! Once again, I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sorry I have been so inactive here, there was a lot of college and other life stuff involved, and then even after my vacations started there's been much lack of inspiration to write and lazyness ;_; I feel horrible. I'm the one who had the idea to start this in the first place, and I shouldn't be neglecting this blog and you people! My dear friend Admin Magica has been holding off everything pretty well in my absence, and for that I'm eternally thankful to her, thank you so much deary~ ;w; But this blog was made for ALL of us to work on it together, and I swear I'm gonna try my best to make everything the right way from now on, the most I can!

I'm currently writing my part in every reply I wasn't able to respond before, and then I'm gonna work on all the critiques that have been submitted to us too, as I said, because I want them to have everyone of us Admins' opinions. I'm trying to contact Admin Mystic too, because it's been a while since we last talked, she must have been really busy as well, even more than me Lol I'm also thinking about doing something to make it up to all of you who submitted your OCs for critique until now and that had to keep waiting, but I'm not sure yet.

Just wanted to let you know that this blog is not dead and we are working on the things we have to do, despite the lateness, but we are! And I really want to thank all of you lovely followers for sticking with us until now, for not leaving or giving up on us and the more and more coming~ >w< I hope everyone had wonderful Holidays!

No, not really! I personally also have always lived with the dub (of my country, of course) and used the American names for all the characters, even after I discovered how different the original version was; And although I obviously switched to following the original Japanese universe after that, I still say the American names, because that's how I got used, and I've also always went with an American name for my own OC from the start and only later thought about giving her a Japanese name too.

It's not really a "rule", a lot people happen to do it in the fandom so I understand why would you be confused, but they tend to go with it just because they want it, so don't worry if you don't :3 You don't have to pick a sub and dub name for them if you don't want to! It's no big deal, just most people's preferences. They either want to make their characters as close as possible as the series itself, thus following the name conventions for both versions, or maybe they do it because others do too, or for some other specific reason or just because they like making up two names. I personally find it interesting, it seems weird at first to refer to an OC by two different names, but at the same time I think it's a funny "unique" thing. Not many fandoms do that, so it's kind of "our thing" =P In the beginning I didn't really care about giving my OC a Japanese name, since whether I was going by the dub or sub version I'd use everyone's American names either way, but I actually decided to do it for a reason of my own regarding her name. I started to have some doubts about it, that had to do with if it sounded dumb or Sue-ish, but I liked it a lot and was too used to change it, so instead I came up with a Japanese name to be optional if people might end up getting bothered. That way, I don't feel guilty of not changing her original name and risking people think she's a Mary Sue just because of that, and everybody's happy, I think. I don't know, sometimes I'm pretty self-concious xD Ugh, I'm sorry I started rambling! This ended up getting long.

But yes, it's completely okay just giving your OC a dub or sub name, without adding the complementary. You don't need to choose both if you don't want to, it's just your option and that's no problem in that. Just don't forget to make it fit and not sound unbelievably absurd in either of the versions, and that if you're using the American names, you'll give the notion that you're using the dub universe. I don't know exactly how you plan to work with that in your OC, but if you happen to want to use the Japanese version of the series' events in your OC's story but still keeping the dub names (like me), you're gonna have to perhaps specify that somewhere. Just do people don't get too confused.

I hope this didn't turn out too complicated and more confusing for you, and that I helped somehow XD And don't worry, it's not silly, I found it a very interesting question to discuss! If my other Admin friends have something to add, keep an eye out for their input o/

Honestly speaking, being blood-related to a canon character immediately holds up the yellow card for Mary Sue.

However, if your OC, even if she's Atem's elder sister, is well-written and has enough depth to support her I think you can make it work anyway. It's a tricky thing to write, actually, but I know you can do it!

Well, like Admin Magica said, having an OC related to a Canon character - at least a main one - is pretty risky. For the most part their backstories are already defined and so is their family, not leaving much room to "fit" someone else, without warping considerably what it's already established. Most people do consider sudden "new" blood relatives of Canon characters as Mary Sues, but it also depends on which character.

AND just like Admin Magica said, I personally believe that if an OC is extremely well written and developed, there's a lot of otherwise known "dangerous Sue territory" stuff you can end up getting away with. There are exceptions this too, of course, like new Millenium Items and other types of absurd things, but really, it's actually possible to make nice balanced characters even with aspects like those, if YOU know how to work with it. At the very least, people may ignore the slightly Sue-ish part of your OC if everything else about them is believable and likeable. Like I mentioned before, I've seen OCs who were related to Pegasus, for example, and they were still pretty good =)

Going more specifically to your question, I think it may be a little hard to make a sister for Atem, specially an older one, but with a lot of care and attention you probably could make it work. It could be possible for him to have a sibling, considering that not much is known of his family even after we find out about his past (we only know about his father and all), and from what I know, many Pharaohs usually had more than one child. You don't have to get into that whole deal about several wives they could have and consequently children, so I guess that by what we know, you could "squeeze" her in the Royal family xD

Just don't forget to do a lot of research of how the Pharaoh's children were raised and treated, specially considering that your OC is a girl. My knowledge is a little rusty right now, but I think that even if she was the first born/elder child, she'd most likely not have the direct right to the throne being a female and all. I may be a little wrong though, they obviously had a lot of respect for the Queens, so either way, she'd be well treated and pampered; However, don't let her "outshine" Atem in some ways. She might be the oldest but HE is the prince and will become Pharaoh in the future, so most likely the bigger part of the family and servant's attention and priority in almost everything would go to him. I don't know how deep you plan on going about his particular aspect (their family life and all), but it's a important thing to note, if you wanna keep it realistic with the Ancient Egyptian royalty patterns and not Mary Sue-ish. Then again, of course, you don't have to make everything COMPLETELY historically accurate, as the Anime/Manga aren't 100% correct either, so it's okay with her not liking the relatives marriage stuff ^^ If anything, you don't even have to mention it, as it doesn't hold a very important part in the Canon story for Ancient Egypt. But you can keep that dislike of hers if you want to like, make it a little bit more realistic with real history but still fitting inside the Anime/Manga's boundaries.

All in all, it's difficult and risky, but if you make your OC the right way for them to be well-rounded with everything else and research a lot to make it work, you can do it! If you have any more doubts, feel free to send other questions and also lastly submit your OC for critique so we can give our full input in everything you worked on :3

I personally don't like Yaoi, but my job is to critique the characters, and that's what I'll do. I try not to let my own opinions interfere with my judgement, and we review all OCs the same =)

Just keep in mind that if your OC has a Yaoi pairing, and if it's with a Canon character, we'll have to analyze it and make sure it'll work in the series just like any other pairing ^^

Hmmm… I guess you COULD submit her and her past life together in the same post, if you want us to have a general idea of the relation between them in the different timelines and etc, but if it’s too much information you can submit them separately.

We personally don’t mind, all together would be easier for us to review everything but it could take longer to write for that same reason… So whatever way it’s better for you honey, either way works for us :3 I kinda think that all the info in the same post would be more practical, considering that her past life is most likely pretty important for her whole story, if it is your case! But it’s your call ^^ If the other Admins wanna share their opinions, feel free to add them here.

First of all, I'd like to apologize IMMENSELY to ALL of you, especially the people who have sent their OCs to critique, as we STILL haven't managed to finish those up! I have a good explanation now, though, I swear ;w;

So, it's been like a month since the last post I made about our progress (HOLY SHIT and sorry for the language), and I was already apologizing for our inactivity, but back then what happened right a few days after I wrote that post is that my laptop had a problem and I was completely unable to use it. I had to send it to fix, and not only that but my college classes have also started a couple of weeks ago, so I got even busier than I already was >_>' My laptop has already been fixed and everything's fine, but I'm not having much time to be on it during the week because of my classes and I have a bunch of works to do. THAT is why those two submission are still being delayed, and I'm really sorry for making you guys wait!

I feel horrible for taking so long on them, and that this stuff had to happen on top of the fact that I already was busy and uninspired with writing your reviews. I'd like to ask you lovely followers to have a little bit more of patience, and I'm gonna try my best to get all my job done as soon as possible OTL I think I may work some more on them this weekend, but I can't guarantee anything at the moment because of some college assignments I have for next week.

I'm really, really sorry once again T_T I hope you guys won't hate me.
