What I Wouldn’t Give by @adertily fucking broke me. i had to put a pause on writing my angsty longfic after i read this. i had to pause my membership in team sharavalms (an angst-supporting squad) because i was just. too. sad. but this fic is fucking amazing. it is so well-written. like genuinely so amazing and so realistic.

also before i dive in, i wanted to greatly appreciate adertily for the comments that she leaves. they’re always so long and so thoughtful and i really love them.

it’s called: Pure Feeling by TechnoSkittles @technoskittles. It’s a modern au where Adora is bisexual (gotta suspend some disbelief obvi) and Catra went to therapy (A LOT of disbelief) and despite growing up together had a fight and haven’t spoken for 8? 5? years? some amount of time. In that time Adora popped one out. They run into each other and reconnect and catra’s all “daaaaamn she still hot” anyway. I’m only on ch. 11 but so far the strongest points are prob the dialogue which is funny and on point and entertaining and the sibling dynamic, cause literally adam and adora are so funny in this and we need more fics with those two having no brain cells.

a universe waiting to happen by strangehunger @strangehunger is a post canon au. It’s a one shot that documents all the ways Adora and she-ra and catra interact with kids. It’s a 5 and then 1 fic and it’s funny and heartfelt and makes a different analysis of Catra than I think most people would think to. Anyway, all around brilliant fic.

‘till death do us part (in stupidity and in health) by yangaf @riotdisciple follows along this author’s style of having a depressing as all get out plot and being laugh out loud funny. Basically, Adora’s life is on the line, Catra can’t help her and is forced to be strong for her kid, and I’m trying to keep from laughing. It’s a modern au one shot and I would highly recommend.

Baby’s First Words by Strickens is a post canon au one shot of Catra being a mom that really tugs at the heart strings and is cute and go for it dude. read it.

Oh God There’s Two of Them by Lyaconpictus77 @clarenecessities is a crack fic that ripped out my soul. It’s the OPPOSITE of anything yangaf writes where instead of it being angsty plot with funny writing it’s a funny plot with angsty writing. It’s that dumb wish fulfillment fic you write in your head but never on paper cause it would be bad but then they made it good. I don’t know how!!!! basically, catra is about to go lie to hordak about shadow weaver being in the fright zone (she’s in bright moon creeping on adora if you’ll remember) when an older version of her and a baby show up. that’s right: time travel.

not if it’s you by storiesandstarsandotherstuff features cat lady Catra and single mom Adora as they navigate the perils of young adulthood and some light suburban homophobia. Catra is brilliant in this and her relationship with the kid is really well developed. It’s a modern au completed multi chap and was one of the first things i read in the fandom so it holds a special place in my heart.

Raindrops on Roses and Whiskers on Kittens by Adertily @adertilys-quill the fic follows Catra and Adora being dumb at a prom and im not saying anything else but it is adorable.

And tho I already have rec’d this once and it’s by an author already on this fic list, no kid fic rec list would be complete without Where The Lost Children Go also by Adertily. It’s another post canon multi chap, but it includes Finn and is more about adoption.

Family by yourbumblebee is also a repeat rec but is also worth mentioning. Another post canon one shot that’s sweet and tooth rottingly fluffly
