Adam Snow is an up-and-coming producer based in DC. He’s been putting out low-key hip-hop instrumentals for a minute now. I love the samples he chooses and the restraint he shows in composing his beats. He doesn’t feel the need to throw every trick into each song to let his listeners know he’s good. As a result, his tracks feel mature and grounded. Take a listen.

Interview: Adam Snow Talks Working With Lil B, His Upcoming EP & Influences You’ll Probably Have To Google
Adam Snow is an American producer and DJ from Washington, DC. His influences come from a variety of genres ranging from early R&B/Hip-Hop to experimental electronic music. Adam is also known for heavy work with Tayyib Ali and producing for Internet favorite Lil B. Read the interview we did with him below.
Q: Did you always know you wanted to produce music? How did you first discover music?
A: Well, I kinda got forced into piano lessons at a kid . Maybe around 6or 7. I was an only child and my mom was never around so I spent a lot of time creating. I started producing right after seeing Kanye West in concert for the first time. Super Inspirational.
Q: I read that you are a DJ. Did youstart out as a DJ then naturally transition into producing?
A: I am. I actually started out wanting to be a DJ. It looked reallyhard and the gear was expensive so I gave up. After I got a firm grasp on the producer world, I realized that I could pretty much do anything I wanted (artistically) if I put my mind to it. So, I gave DJing another shot.
Q: How long have you been seriously producing music?
A: About 2-3 years
Q: How did you link up with Lil B?
A: He liked some of my solo work I put out and asked for beats. The rest is history.
Q: Who are your biggest influences?
A: You might have to google some of these, haha
i. Kanye West
ii. Coby Jones
iii. The Wachowskis
iv. Shinichirō Watanabe
Q: Do you have a specific message to your supporters/ listeners?
A: Be Good.
Q: If you weren't involved with music at all, what would you be doing?
A: Doing music / art is one of the few things I have the drive to do, and music is what got my start in the video editing/directing game (which I love). There were many times growing up I thought about checking out. Honestly, without music I probably wouldn’t have made it.
Q: What are your musical goals for 2015?
A: Same as any artist that’s really trying to do this: to be the hottest artist in the game. Generally though, I just want to be healthy, loved and comfortable.
Q: Are you working on an EP? I think I heard you were? When's that release?
A: Yes, I am. It’s going to be amazing. That should be coming out some time in 2015. We’re just trying to find the right situation.
Q: What kind of emotion or feeling goes behind each track?
A: Whatever I’m feeling at the time. I try not to think about it too much.
Q: What's your relationship with Soundcloud? Do you like it? Do you believe that it's a real career booster if a major label hears your sounds there? Or do you prefer networking outside of the internet?
A: Soundcloud is great ! It’d be nice if it was down less though. It’s always good if important people hear your music, Soundcloud or otherwise. I think it’s important to balance both though. Being in the streets and starting out as a producer hustlin’ beats to people in DC is a big part of who I am today.
Q: If you could work with anyone who would it be?
A: Jay Electronica. Hands down. We talked and I sent him some beats so hopefully we’ll be seeing that pan out!
Q: What has been your biggest struggle so far, musically?
A: Letting music go and being happy with it. I’m such a perfectionist it was often hard to say, “Ok, this song is finished. Let’s put it out.”
Q: What do you think about the current state of radio?
A: I don’t really listen to traditional radio.
Q: Do you have a favorite musical project that you’ve worked on? Or one you are working on?
A: Yea , I loved working with Lil B . thats the homie! Also, I’m working on some stuff for this new kid Tedy Andreas. He’s crazy talented and I think he’ll be next to blow up if he keeps at it.
Q: What do you do for fun outside of working on music?
A: Big anime fan. Used to be a huge video game nerd, but I kinda grew out of it. That said, I do enjoy the Final Fantasy series on occasion. Also, food.
