Kylo's hand is outstretched, palm up, eerily still. He’s facing the glass wall of his chambers, looking out to the endless expanse of space, eyes lost through the spatter of stars and darkness. Above his hand, a large crystal hangs nearly stagnant in the air, only quivering for fleeting moments---something threatens his focus.
He typically meditates in his isolation chamber, but he found himself drawn to the familiarity of sleep, a relief he often did not experience. Ask him and he could not tell you the last time he rested. Sleep is a distraction, he would say, and even in his deprivation, his eyes remain unblinking, reddened and bloodshot, staring into the stars swollen with a sickly drive to overpower his all too-human needs.
The back of Kylo’s neck prickles and the crystal hanging in the air teeters like it’s about to fall, but it snaps back into place even when he looks back over his shoulder. Someone joined him, standing at the other end of the room, and in any other moment he would have lashed out without hesitation, saber in hand, force gripped like a vise around their throat.
But not in this moment. Kylo still half lulled in his meditation greets him, his voice low and strained, eyes on the leather boots of his higher up.
“Emperor.”
