Growing up along the coast of Newfoundland, it was fascinating to walk the ocean shoreline and discover what the tide had left behind. Unsuspecting tires, dead whales, ragged clothing, foreign bottles and planks of wood. The mouth of the sea can consume anything, but the objects it returns are haunted by a struggle with the sea. Similar to situations that make us feel as though we’ve lost control, pushed around, and stripped of our identity until we are stranded in a moment of despair.
