she peels an apple in her hand absently, the knife having been conjured into existence moments prior; and then realises she has been staring. kelerel blinks her eyes, purple hues (spells of conjuring) giving way to the green hues of her detection spells ... crowding forward in her pupils as they press to the forefront. "forgive me for staring, you bear a resemblance to my dear sister," she speaks of vida, who had returned to ithrea in the months gone. instead of disengaing, kel continues with a genuine query ... "do you know where i could find cheap lodgings in town, or nearby?" she's wandered these lands for the last twelve years and yet still had not seen it all. she can conjure herself a shelter, but it grows taxing and oft incurs annoying questions ... or worse ... from the locals.

haven's walls stretched far, but it did NOT mean that everyone within was unknown. he wasn't surprised that the inquisition had garnered enough traction to get other cities involved such as kirkwall, seeing as though the power of the inquisition was steadily growing, rivaling those of most cities and settlements.

that being said, it still surprised fenris that he would KNOW someone so close to his inner circle. sure, it wasn't anders or merrill, not even hawke ; yet, it was someone whom they had certainly encountered before. he NEVER forgot a face, especially when it came to those who have crossed him before.

geralt  of  rivia  was  not  infallible  .    nor  was  he  invincible  to  the  desires  of  the  human  will  .    he  wished  for  many  things  in  this  world  ,    most  of  which  were  unattainable  ,    some  petty  ,    and  some  ,    in  geralt’s  view  ,    perfectly  justifiable  .    it  was  true  ,    that  he  didn’t  fault  people  on  their  mistakes  ,    insofar  as  they  meant  well  in  their  endeavours  .    but  he  did  fault  people  on  what  they  meant  wholeheartedly  .    some  of  them  ,    to  put  it  bluntly  ,    deserved  to  die  .    by  geralt’s  hand  ,    or  by  some  horrifying  twist  of  fate  that  left  them  terrified  before  their  lives  could  be  fully  snuffed  out  .    either  solution  worked  .

he  looked  at  his  blade  ,    still  drawn  .    it  would  do  no  good  now  ,    when  the  guards  had  gathered  around  the  offending  group  .    they  hadn’t  seen  the  contention  :    but  geralt  had  heard  it  .    they  ,    in  particular  ,    had  thought  they  could  take  their  fun  in  tormenting  a  poor  soul  .    stony  faced  ,    he  replaced  the  steel  in  its  sheath  and  looked  to  the  elf  who  now  stood  at  his  side  .    where  she  had  come  from  ,    he  wasn’t  sure  .    he  hadn’t  been  paying  attention  .

the sound that comes from her is unholy, a coughing as she spits up back into her chalice, a burning in her sinuses and throat as it mixes with laughter and choking. if cassandra were here, she'd make a face. vhen'ara lowers her drink, hand coming up to cover her mouth as she laughs into it, desperate to keep any from pouring onto her lap. the tavern is crowded, but hardly anyone has noticed, and she eyes helena in the seat next to her. “ well, i wasn't expecting that! ”

she's right though; even as she dries her face with a towel from the barkeep, vhen'ara can admit that the inquisition — for all the good it does, or tries to do — has only added onto her backpack of balls. “ i mean, i'm tired, yes, but isn't it supposed to be a good tired? i do find myself grateful for the elves that have found home here, but when do the hateful stares for being dalish end? ”
