The First Time I Heard About AOK
I heard about Acts Of Kindness through my leadership class in high school. For weeks we talked about various ways we could get students throughout the school to start showing these acts. Doing all of this through leadership, it really opened my eyes as to what acts of kindness could do for people. When someone receives a friendly gesture, it makes them want to continue that and do a nice thing for someone else. Trying to be apart of this movement, one thing that my mom and I did at the grocery store was buy a bunch of flowers and wrote happy notes on them. We went around the Harris Teeter parking lot and attached flowers and notes under the windshield wipers of many cars. We stayed and watched a few people receive their flowers/ notes and we saw their big smiles and happy reactions they had from it. Even though it was a little gesture, It made us feel like we brightened someones day- from then on, I have always loved doing acts of kindness for people and I have realized that the feeling that I get from doing it is far greater than anything else.Â
