Roam, a leading producer of locally-made motorcycles and buses in Africa, has today launched a locally-produced electric shuttle bus, Roam Move, aimed at enhancing the zero-emission transport system in Kenya.A Kenyan-based electric motor company with Swedish origins is the first Electric company to locally manufacture road transit buses with high performance and ostensibly lower operation costs compared to other fossil-fuel-based buses. With an accommodating seating capacity of 51 passengers and a 170 kWh fully charged battery within 1.5 hours only, the bus can traverse 200km uninterrupted to ensure that all commuter expectations are at least met on time.Roam Shuttle Bus Interior. This achievement aligns perfectly with our vision of fostering sustainable transportation solutions that make a positive impact on our environment and our communities. The launch of this electric shuttle bus represents not only a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability but also a testament to the talent and potential within Kenya's manufacturing industry, said Country Sales Executive, Dennis Wakaba. With the just-concluded African Climate Summit earlier this month, leaders across the continent urged rapid steps to phase out carbon-emitting vehicles and motorcycles to mitigate the effects of Climate Change on health, the economy, and the entire ecosystem of humanity. The launch of Roam Move on the Kenyan roads is the epitome of positive progress and un-endless efforts to transform and build a sustainable transport system aimed at improving the environment. Roam Move will officially start surfacing roads in October 2024.
