#do u ever NOT look good#like are there days where you just say fuckit and wear sweatpants and a t shirt
Bird, Iām going to use your tags as an opportunity to share the Blythe Scale of Low Spoon to High Spoon Outfits because itās something Iāve thought about a lot and that Iāve been wanting to post on this blog anyway. Ā So! Ā Thank you for giving me the excuse to do it. Ā :P
Here, in order of lowest spoons to highest spoons, is the range of what I wear:
Iām wearing nothing but underwear, which may or may not include a bra. Ā Also, itās yesterdayās underwear.
Iām wearing nothing but underwear, possibly including a bra, but at least everythingāsĀ clean. Ā (Except for me. Ā I most likely have not showered.)
Iām wearing yesterdayās pajamas. Ā I may or may not have changed my underwear/bra.
Iām wearing clean pajamas. Ā (After this, all clothing can be assumed to be clean.)
Iām wearing something thatās in between pajamas and ārealā clothes--a nightgown that doesnāt look too weird to wear during the day, some really hole-y leggings with a random shirt, etc.
Iām wearingĀ ārealā clothes, but theyāre not really An Outfit. Ā Think a random pair of pants and a shirt that looks okay with them, or a lightweight dress I can just throw on.
Iām wearing an okay-looking outfit, but itās nothing special by my standards. Ā Iām almost certainly not wearing makeup. Ā I probably wonāt bother to photograph this, unless my queue is running low, or I happen to have the time/energy and am up for it. Ā If I do decide to photograph it, I might throw some makeup on but itās going to be simple and fast. Ā (Hereās an example.)
Iām wearing a decent-looking outfit, but no makeup. Ā I will photograph this if I can, but itās no big deal if I canāt. Ā I might wear the outfit another day to get photographs, and I may add makeup that time. Ā (Hereās an example.)
Iām wearing a decent-looking outfit with makeup. Ā I will put some effort into trying to photograph this, but if it doesnāt work out, itās not the end of the world. Ā I might wear the outfit another day to get photographs. Ā (Hereās an example.)
Iām wearing a fairlyĀ āout thereā or high effort outfit, but without makeup. Ā I may have planned this outfit in advance, or had a specific theme in mind. Ā This is somewhat rare, as I generally try to wear makeup with my really fancy/wild outfits, otherwise I feel like my face doesnātĀ āmatchā my clothes. Ā I will work hard to photograph this and will definitely wear it again (possibly with makeup) if I canāt get photos the first timeĀ āround. Ā (This one just barely squeaks into this category--like I said, this is rare.)
Iām wearing a fairlyĀ āout thereā or high effort outfit, including makeup. Ā The makeup may be heavy and/or elaborate. Ā I probably planned this outfit in advance and/or had a theme in mind when I put it together. Ā I will try to structure my entire schedule around making sure that Iām home in time to photograph it. Ā I basically donāt wear outfits like this on days that I know I wonāt be able to photograph them. Ā If something comes up, I will take detailed notes and maybe grab some reference pics with my phone so I can make sure to replicate the outfit. Ā (The majority of the outfits on my blog fall into this category, but hereās one example.)
Thereās a lot of variation within the last four categories, and as I mentioned, most of my outfits on this blog fall into category #11. Ā All that being said, I almost never wear sweatpants unless Iām going to physical therapy. Ā (Thatās gonna change soon because I got some cool-looking ones for my costume for the dance piece I was in, and Iāve been trying to incorporate them into my wardrobe. Ā Still, thatās just one pair.) Ā The reason I have my queue spread out is precisely because I spend plenty of time in low-spoon outfits that would be super boring to photograph--in fact, Iāve spent most of the last two weeks in categories #3 through #5, with only the occasional higher-spoon outfit! Ā (Today was a #9.)
I just wanna get this out there because like, yeah, the main point of the blog is me goingĀ āHey look! Ā You can still dress cool while youāre disabled, it doesnāt mean you have to try to seemĀ ānormalā! Ā You can have fun and draw things on your face and who cares if you could have used that energy for something moreĀ āpracticalā? Ā Do what you want!ā Ā But at the same time, I donāt want people to think that Iām like... barely disabled. Ā Iām pretty damn chronically ill! Ā I can do the stuff I need to do to get along in life, but itās a struggle and things are always slipping through the cracks, and I frequently have to spend the day lying in bed and making sad noises. Ā (I also wanted to post this because I think itās funny, although that might just be me.) Ā People who only know me from this blog areĀ generally seeing photos of me on mid- or high-spoon days, and if theyāreĀ seeing me on a low-spoon day, probably the only thing I did that day was get dressed and put on makeup. Ā Iāve been obsessed with fashion since I had the capacity to be obsessed with things, so thinking about it and playing around with it is what makes me feel better. Ā But believe me, I have spent my fair share of time sitting around in yesterdayās underwear and nothing else.
