I've been playing animal crossing for a LONG time and I have an entire journal for a "mini guide" whenever I play and feel too lazy to look things up. One page has all the badges, another has ways to unlock shops, all the fish so I know what I need and how to get it- here's the page with the guides on hybrids!

How to “choose” the first villagers that move in your town
So, do you know the first villagers that move in your town, after your initial five ones? Yeah, you can “choose” them. Actually, you choose if you want them or not.
By this method, I was able to get Tammy and Gaston into my new town 😍 (so worth it!!).
Here’s how to do it (plot resetting):
Log in a new character, on that day, without entering your own character.
Walk around town and see if there is any house being built. If so, check to whom it belongs.
Do you like or dislike the villager? If you dislike, you can repeat the steps above until you find one you like.
However, if you (finally) like the villager, you have to register your character as a citizen (go to town hall + build home + go back to town hall + save game).
When the game saves, you successfuly have your villager! You are free to delete the character by demolishing their house, or keep them if you want to! Don’t worry, your villager will move to your town regardless, since you saved the game.
OBS:
Make sure you log into a new character (New Save File). DON’T log in your character/mayor, or the game will save before it starts, and you won’t be able to change the villager;
The process may take long, since the game chooses the villagers randomly (don’t give up!!).
hello welcome to this tutorial on stuff you probably already know about this game that has been out since 2012 - many guides already exist on this subject, but i didn’t make those so i’m not here for that
first let me show you what not to do:
This ^^^^ don’t do this. By this we mean don’t shake your tree when all the available spots directly to the front of it are taken by objects. In this case a clover and a flower are taking up the space we want the hive to fall into. If we shook the tree as is, the hive would fall further away and we’d have to run around to go get that bee and i’m not about that life
This is what we’re looking for, two empty spaces, one to the right and one to the left of the center spot. You want to stand right there in the middle spot of the tree, with your net out. Here Piers is using the golden net but you’ll do fine with any colour net.
Once in the middle space with the right or left space clear of objects, shake the tree with the net out.
If you’re lucky a hive will fall down, just like this one! Your character will automatically turn to face the hive and do a surprised emote, spam your action button asap and viola!

Picking Colours
╚═══.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.═══╝
If you don’t know how to get Screenshots of your mayor in high quality please look around on either google or tumblr!
To start picking colours I use the Eye-drop tool to select photos straight from the image in my drawing program! For this tutorial I’ll be using Sketchbook Pro which is Free, has no Ads, and is the closest thing to PS cs6 in an app that I like! It also has line prediction which can help smooth hair waves!
Generally I like to try and get 4 colour variants from the original picture, this helps with light and dark and blending later on! For each attribute for your OC pick at LEAST 3 colours! I’m doing her hair, face, and feet! So I picked those colours here!

Blending The Hair
╚═══.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.═══╝
I do a new layer for all my edits EXCEPT Face edits (I’ll try and explain these later)! So we’ve selected around 4 colours for her little ear flipper...gills?You start by drawing the basic shape of what you want in the colour that’s most PROMINENT on the hair! This is our “base” colour. Adjust the shapes as needed, then start adding the darker colour where the shadow would be and then the lights where the lights would be! I used a blending tool to blend the colours and edges, it makes the photo edit look like it’s from the game!Save your darkest colour to almost “line” the finished product! Make sure to blend out the edge a bit so it isn’t a hard line. The best advice I can give for this step is take your time, look where the light is coming from, and observe how the colours look on the base photo! This same advice applies for any other non face cosmetics...like her flippers!!
╔═══.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.═══╗
Blending the Face
╚═══.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.═══╝
If you are adding or removing an eye, you’ll have to do what I do, and that’s edit the BASE photo! This might be a bit scary at first, but it’s worth it I think!
To remove an eye you’re going to use the selection tool and select the eye you want to be her “main eye”. Move it to the center of their face! Then you’ll need to blend the existing skin OVER the big white patch you made in their face. Select some of the skin colour and add it as you go! Now you can create a separate layer and place skin colour over the other eye, any harsh edges etc. I find the airbrush tool on a super low setting helps the face look more pixelated!
To add an Eye!
All you need to do is copy the selection you made of the “main eye”. Add this in the middle of the forehead or wherever you want it! Maybe their a fortune teller and have eyes on their palms!! Blend the edges accordingly and voila! They’re no longer strictly human!
╔═══.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.═══╗
Adding Blemishes
╚═══.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.═══╝
Can we all agree freckles are so cute? Or even some light blush! To do these, they’re pretty much the easiest cosmetic change you can make, that’ll still make your OC stand out!
Choose a brown shade, these here work fine but I prefer cool tone shades for freckles.
Make very small dots, in two varying sizes! I find having two sized freckles dispersed looks better than one size! More natural!
Pick up the main skintone and airbrush LIGHTLY over them! This will just make them look like theyre IN the skin not ON.
Here’s The Final Look!

hi! no worries, you’re not a bother at all! editing animal crossing pics is tough for me and i’m still trying to figure out the best method, but this is how i’ve been doing it lately!
i take a screenshot with my 2ds, then take the sd card out and put it in my chromebook
open the pic into waifu2
set noise reduction to medium/high and scale to 2x
open it into pixlr which i HATE. but it’s free, works with my chromebook and it’s not the worst one i’ve used.
in pixlr, (using various layers/ opacities/ color modes) i will usually
brighten a bit
blur background/ foreground with tilt shift (erasing away some of the blur if it’s covering objects in the focal point of the image)
change the color in some way, either an all over wash of color or a light colored gradient coming from a light source to try and add some atmosphere
add some highlights using dodge tool or add/ darken some shadows
if edges are still really choppy, i’ll smooth it out by painting over it using a nearby color
crop if i feel like it
save and open back into waifu and reduce the noise once more without increasing the size
and that’s basically it! i hope that’s helpful, if you have any more questions lemme know ♡
If it fits, I sits: making different stump chairs for your town
So on my previous guide fromfewyearsago [link] I demonstrated how make patterned-stumps for your town, but! did you know you could sit into mid-way growing stumps too? Here’s how:
Okay so, sitting on stumps is pretty cool and can be one easy way to place chairs around your town without using one pwp, but the same everywhere gets boring right?
Well, for a change, you could make a stump slightly smaller! Let’s see these tree growing:
First day after being seeded: we have a tiny cute tree stump, but we can’t sit on it!
Second day: it’s larger...but I can’t still fit my butt mayor there..
Okay this one is on dawn of the 3rd day...and...
it fits! it fits! there we go, another way to make one chair from trees!
here’s how i do my house interiors currently. they kind of have a messy, cluttered miss-matched vibe.
i’m going to show you bits of the rooms ive already decorated and then the development of my witchy bedroom!
step one: planning
colour scheme/ consistency in colour
as long as i can remember i’ve always had a colour scheme flowing throughout any house ive decorated in acnl. in my more recent interior designs i’ve chosen to have one or two consistent colours flowing throughout my house.
for example in my mayors house i have a flow of mustard yellow throughout. i wanted a very autumnal looking house and these warm tones really give off that vibe!
in my witches house i consistently use purple throughout the rooms. i find having a consistent colour really ties everything together when you go for the miss-matched furniture look.
plan your furniture
once ive chosen my scheme i then use the website MoriDB to plan which furniture items i want to use.
my catalogs usually consist of:
- many wall papers and floorings to test out to find the best overall look
