Prologue to an assassination classroom x khr crossover that I'll never finish where Lambo joins the End Class. This is probably from like 2020 I think?
A thick folder drops onto Tsunaâs desk, obscuring the rest of his paperwork from sight. Tsuna blinks down at it, then up at Reborn standing passively in front of him, and then back down again. Setting his pen aside, he opens the file. The chatter from his Guardians dies down as they wait for his verdict.
A moment later, Tsuna says, âThey found out who blew up the moon.â
âAllegedly,â Reborn says.
âAllegedly,â he agrees, still perusing the contents of the file. âA⌠talking octopus? Who is this, a cousin of Oodako?â Someone snorts. âMach 20 speed⌠He plans to blow up the earth too unless someone else can kill him. A lot of professionals have already tried.â He looks up at Reborn. âDid you get contacted about this?â
âI was. I didnât take it.â
âWhy not?â
He taps the file and Tsuna obligingly continues reading until the end.
When he finishes, he leans back in his chair. âThe octopus wants to be a teacher before he blows up the earth.â
âIndeed.â Reborn smirks. âSound familiar?â
Tsuna huffs. As though Rebornâs tutoring had ever been altruistic. âYou didnât take the job because you think thereâs merit in his request; you just want to find out more about himâwhere he came from and why heâs going to destroy the earth.â
âCorrect. However?â
âHowever,â Tsuna continues with a sigh, âwe canât let a matter like this go unchecked. Governments from all over the world will be keeping an eye on this, especially the Japanese government, since this octopus requested to be put into a specific class at a specific schoolâwhich is suspicious all on its own. At any rate, theyâll be sending in their own man as a handler and a teacher, and likely others will soon follow, either legal officers or underworld assassins.â
âAn adequate analysis of the situation,â Reborn praises. Tsuna rolls his eyes. âYouâll also notice that the kids themselves will be in training to kill the octopus. We might find some hidden talent.â
âWe are not recruiting from a bunch of fourteen-year-olds again.â
Reborn pouts dramatically. Such open emotion is a privilege only within this office.
âBut I do agree that we should keep an eye on this,â Tsuna adds. âWeâll send in our own teacherâBasil, maybe. Or perhaps Haru.â
Chrome interjects, âBoss, Haruâs identity is too precious and her civilian work is too public. We canât afford to risk connecting her to such a high-profile case.â
âBasilicum is busy,â Hibari says.
Tsuna frowns. True, Haru is an excellent spymaster, so they donât like to advertise her association with them, lest anyone find out that Haru Miura the costume designer and part-time actress is a Vongola; and Hibari values Basilâs input as a senior member of the CEDEF, so they canât afford to give him a long-term mission in another country either when thereâs already so much on his plate.
âPerhaps a different option,â Reborn offers graciously, which means he was definitely looking for an opening. âWe send someone undercover, who is largely anonymous but who can also afford to be revealed if it comes down to it. Someone, like Lambo.â
âWhat?â Tsuna exclaims at the same time as Lambo, who jumps to his feet from where he was lounging on the couch.
âReborn, we canât just send Lambo into an unknown situation!â Tsuna continues. âHeâs not ready!â
âI donât want to go to school!â Lambo exclaims, which gets him the stink-eye from Hibari.
âIs he or is he not a Vongola Guardian?â Reborn challenges.
âFuture Guardian. Future. Heâs still too young,â Tsuna insists.
âBut heâs being trained for it and has been since he was five. He may not be able to do anything against a Mach 20 monster, but he can certainly take initiative in a pinch for a bunch of civilian children.â
âDidâwas that a compliment?â Lambo asks.
âItâs risky,â Tsuna argues. âHe wouldnât have any supervision.â
âHeâs had solo missions before, and leadership training,â Reborn counters.
âLeadership training that he hasnât completed yet! And the solo missions didnât bring him far from home!â
âWe have many Vongola bases in Japan, and Hibari spends half of his time there. Heâll be able to stay with your parents.â
âIemitsuâs face is too well-known in the mafia, even now. If someone were to follow Lambo home and see himâŚâ
âIemitsu is terrible at many things, but he does know how to hide.â
Tsuna lets his head fall into his hands for a moment. He really doesnât want to send Lambo away, and certainly not all the way to Japan. Theyâve kept his identity on the downlow for the past nine years. Heâs trained, of course, and heâs participated in missions and is well-informed on the goings-on in the underworld, but that doesnât mean Tsuna wants him completely exposed before heâs even graduated high school, much less middle school.
With a sigh, he looks up again, scanning the faces of his Guardians around the room before landing on Lambo. Heâs still standing, looking uncertain and, suddenly, so much smaller than usual.
âWhat do you think, Lambo?â Tsuna asks softly. âYouâll be without all of us for a year, except for Hibariâs check-insâwhich he will do, if you agree to this. We donât have a lot of information either.â
âYouâll also get real experience,â Reborn adds. âInformation gathering on an undercover long-term missionâitâll be good for you, and youâll be able to help the Family more.â
âUm,â Lambo says, eyes darting between the two of them. âUm, well, I meanâ" Already, Tsuna can tell that Reborn appealing to his usefulness is working. âEr⌠I think⌠I think I can do it. Yeah, I can totally do it! Iâm your Lightning Guardian Lambo-sama after all!â He puffs out his chest as his bravado kicks in. Reborn sends a smug smile Tsunaâs way.
Tsuna groans in defeat. âFine. Lambo, this will be your mission. Please be safe. Iâll give you all the details once everything is straightened out.â
The room bursts into noise as most of the Guardians give their congratulations to Lambo on his first long-term mission. Lambo bears it all with bright red cheeks and a smile that betrays his excitement.
