"Always. You're my priority. Everything else can wait." He stroked my cheek with his thumb. "We deserve a soft epilogue, my love."
"Wow, Re has been teaching you a lot of poetry, hasn't he?"
That same warmth filled my chest. I pulled him into a hug and kissed him, feeling the warmth of his body against mine. "I love you, Luke. I wanna spend every day with you, and I don't know any better way to do that than to do this." I took his hand in mine and looked at him. "Lucas Andrew Garcia. Will you marry me?"
Without hesitation, he replied, "Yes. Without a doubt, Cel. I love you so much, and I can't imagine myself without you. I've known you since elementary school and have loved you for almost as long. Celia June Fitz. Will you marry me?"
"Yes,'' I murmured, feeling overwhelmed with joy.
There we were, in our cozy pajamas, him kneeling in front of me on the couch. Engaged. It was different, a simple moment, but it was us. We were home for each other. An equal proposal, for a marriage of equals.
