BSI's annual congress in Liverpool
The British Society for Immunology were good enough to embed me in their events team for their four-day congress in at the Liverpool Acc Conference Centre, Albert Dock in December. When I wasnât being bamboozled by the discourse of cutting-edge scientific research (a c.20 year old GCSE Biology didnât really furnish me with the skills to keep up!) I found it to be an enthralling event and it was inspirational to witness the passion with which this collection of remarkable brains set about ridding humanity of some terrible afflictions.
On Day 1 there was a 'bright sparks' session for PhDs and postdocs, before an introductory session in the main auditorium including a musical performance from a local school and an address from the BSI's Chief Executive.
Day 2 featured more talks, discussions, poster sessions and a spectacular sunset across the Mersey
Day 3 featured more of the same during the day...
...then in the evening pretty much everyone involved made their way to an event at uber trendy Camp & Furnace. It was a fine way to finish off the congress.
