😍 A year on I still regularly get sent photos of people with the mural I painted by the seaside in Ramsey (which I love ❤) though this is the first animal photo! 🐾 Painting this mural, the way dogs reacted to the big painted cats was interesting - and sometimes VERY noisy. Some were excited by them, some barked & tried to chase them, some tried to say hello with wagging tails & others seemed oblivious to their existence! ✨Even though learning has been bringing me so much anxiety lately, I am determined to learn how to slow down my thoughts, slow down my automatic reactions, slow down my life in general. . I decided to start filming my studies. Filming them forces me to really think before I make a mark on the paper. It forces me to think about what I want to capture. It forces me to stop myself in the process to change camera angles. . Art is all about PROCESS. It is experimenting, making mistakes, learning what works and what doesn't. It is a practice. And the finished product is only a consequence of that practice and that process. . I decided to practice patience. I forgot how to connect with my work. I forgot that creating is process and patience and a relationship that you are building with your creation. I lost track of what is really important. . At the end of last year, I finally was able to contain my anxiety when it comes to being a beginner at something. I had a tough time because I love learning new things but I wasn't able to let myself practice and learn because I was looking too ahead in the future and got overwhelmed. . I started implementing a different mentality, and I slowly was able to manage this anxiety and overwhelmed that kept me from doing many things I really wanted to do. Like studying art again, for the sole purpose of learning and enjoyment. . I talk about just that in my brand new YouTube video - it's been a while! I did something weeks ago and just put it aside, not really sure if I wanted to share it, but today I do. I spent a little time learning how to do some simple embroidery and it was fun! . I had this drawing that I did in a moment of, well, I guess you can kind of tell by looking at the picture. I can't quite name the feeling, but sometimes it is as cliche as it can be - a picture is worth a thousand words. I guess in this case it is true. . In this piece, I also used some black watercolor to make it a little more structured. I was shy in the watercolor, and still managed to mess up a little 😅 . PS: I'm doing better! . . . I think searching for ideas for comics actually means taking notes all day long of things that happen, things you feel, things you think about. If you leave it for later, it will completely dissipate into your mundane life. . I would love to go back to making comics. But for some reason I feel so paralyzed when it comes to ideas. I feel like if I’m doing it again, I’m gonna have to create some ground rules for myself. And continue to take notes. . I’ve so distant and disconnected from this account (from instagram in general actually) that I don’t know anymore what you guys want to see here. Or even if you guys are in fact still here or just unfollowing away. . I hope I get this connection with you back. The app might suck at this point in time, but I haven’t deleted my account because of you. Not meta group. YOU. .
