Got a lot done at work today. Partly thanks to the small dopamine boost of my new planner being on my desk when I got in. It's an A5 6-ring binder so I can easily arrange notes and separate my two teams. The specific planner inserts I asked for didn't come in, but it has enough pages to start.
And not on my to do list but I got to do my first job reference for one of our grads. They are one I deeply miss, but I'm excited for their next step. Then during my closing round, I saw another of our grads. We had just been talking about her and how much we miss her. She's in grad school and I am so excited for her. I love the more traditional library work I do, but working with our student workers is my actual favorite part. Even if it is bittersweet at the end of every semester as some of them inevitably move on. It's part of the reason I'm iffy on getting my MLIS. I know every school is different, but our librarians are so removed from the day to day of the library that I don't know that I'd like it. (No, I would.) But if I was to move jobs on our campus, I would probably shift to the team that handles student employment at the campus level.
Tomorrow is catching up on the hiring work I've been avoiding. We need absolutely need proof of summer work study funds. I put it at the top of the job listing bold all caps and said that straight up we would not consider anyone without it. Over a hundred applications and maybe 20 people have included it. Which makes my job easier but also I am mad they are wasting my time.
