Hanzo is warm. Hell, they both are. For a kryomancer, that’s saying something, but the exertion of lovemaking on a bed of moss in the woods on a hot summer night is enough even to warm his icy blood. Be that as it may, there is nowhere the young kryomancer would rather be. Bruises are forming on both of their bodies and minor wounds go untended as they curl closer to each other.

“You are beautiful,” Hanzo whispers, reaching down to push some hair out of Bi-Han’s face as the man tilts his chin upward to glare with crystal blue eyes and an expression that could freeze a lesser man’s heart.

“Do not say it,” hisses Bi-Han, very little venom in his voice. “I hate it.”

“You hate what? The truth?” Hanzo’s arms wrap tightly about Bi-Han’s pale body and pulls him to his chest. He knows why Bi-Han hates his looks. They have spoken often enough. As closely as the kryomancer plays his cards, Hanzo is no fool. He can read the man like a book. Rivals they may be, but they are also friends and, more than that, there is deep respect between them. With that respect comes perception, understanding, and empathy.

But for all that, Hanzo Hasashi has no power over Bi-Han’s future. He can see the course the man’s life is taking, barreling toward them like tsunami, destined to wipe everything away and leave naught but ruin. His heart breaks for Bi-Han. He wants nothing more than to free the man. But what would Bi-Han, a man who has never known liberty, do with such emancipation?
