Speaking of AI and the enshittification of everything, auto-generated subtitles are devolving from "useful tool in specific circumstances" to a complete fucking disaster. I know it's been a problem for a while but this past week I've seen three different shows where the subtitles aren't even confusing homophones or mucking up fast speech, they're just fully hallucinating words that are not there. What the actual fuck I can't even imagine having any level of deafness or other auditory issues and trying to watch anything now. It must feel like trying to read a story written by an 8 year old who's coming off a sugar high while on Benadryl.

Virgin Island on Channel 4 has to be one of the most irresponsible and exploitative TV shows ever produced. Everyone involved in getting this shitshow commissioned should be ashamed of themselves.
