if you squint you can see a little bit of white right above the stop sign--that’s part of the algerian flag--in algeria (but ofc this photo was taken in morocco). this border is closed, but a lot of people who live in oujda (a moroccan city, the capital of the Oriental region) have connections to algeria--algerian roots, or family that lives there. 

berkane is famous for its oranges. according to orange farmers at a farm we visited, a lot of the oranges we eat in rabat and even in america are from berkane, but idk if the second part is true
