My thoughts on Matt’s injury
The following post is speculation ONLY. I have no facts. I have not spoken to anyone. It’s only from what I see on facebook and comments made by those members, some in the know, some not.
I’m wondering if it is a hoax. Or at the very least not as bad as everyone is saying it is.
We don’t know for sure that he’s in ICU in Seattle. It’s just from ‘reliable sources’, that no one has said who those sources are. And how reliable is a source if you don’t know who it is? If there hasn’t been a statement from that person, there is no source. It’s just he said, she said, bullshit.
If the injury was ‘life threatening’ why would they have taken him TO Hoonah? Someone on the crew would have called 911 on the Satellite phone, or the emergency channel on the marine radio and called for a medivac directly TO Browntown. Not wasted that extra hour. They have certified medical people on the crew. (It’s required that they have medical people.) And they would have known what to do right away.
They took him there so there would be witnesses, so the drama and speculation could spread. Otherwise they would have kept it on the downlow. (Honestly, I wouldn’t put it past Park Slope to do something like that.) [Couple that with the incident that someone on facebook took a pic of a couple of crew members the very next day getting wildlife shots. If they were concerned, they would have stopped production entirely.]
And no they would not have met the medivac copter halfway. There is plenty of space for a helicopter to land at Browntown. Even considering high tide. (Unless there was a super tide.) It makes absolutely no sense to meet the medivac in Hoonah and waste an hour, when the medivac would have had five more minutes to Browntown. (On the show, they’ve said 3 hours to Hoonah, then chopped it down to 1 hour, and now 30 mins by skiff. So what is it, DC?)
And you can tell from an injury of that type if you need hospitalization or just a doctor visit. Allegedly he’s got burns...
Kenny didn’t know anything about the accident. He found out on Facebook, just like everyone else. Kenny is a firefighter in Hoonah... wouldn’t he have known if there was something going on... and involving his best friend.
A few people on FB have suggested that this is a hoax for ratings. I’m leaning in that direction.
Why would they do that? You might ask. To compound the situation with Ami. She’s ill, the family is split and now Matt gets hurt. How better to make their exit from Browntown? An accident involving one of the boys. Now they’ll never want to see Browntown again. Maybe it’s bad luck? It’s cursed.
So now they have to leave after all of that hard work. But that’s just ‘Brown Luck’ for you.
We know all of these articles coming out are false. They aren’t reliable media outlets to begin with. They are written by people like us. People going off what others have said, all of these ‘reliable sources’ that no one can name. And they change the ‘facts’. It went from a 1/4 stick of dynamite to 1/3 stick. It went from him being careless, to a fuse malfunction. All because we just don’t know what happened, no one does because those that were there aren’t saying (which they shouldn’t) for Matt’s privacy. Although I’m sure no one has actually asked any of the crew what happened.
And now there’s the ads for the new season. ‘Their Darkest Hour’.
[I’m writing this as anon, because I don’t want to admit I am a lurker on a couple of facebook groups. They have spies everywhere.] I also don’t want to get drummed off Tumblr if I’m terribly wrong and it is in fact a terrible injury.
