History:
Birth; Lorcan Burke met Altagracia Rosas Arroyo while traveling to purchase antiques for his family’s shop, and was quite taken with the imposing witch. For her part, Altagracia liked that Lorcan was taken with her, and their marriage worked well for both of them. Their first child was not supposed to be their only one, but after a difficult pregnancy and dangerous birth, the healers made it clear that trying for more children would risk Altagracia’s life. Childhood; Eavan was never made to feel as if she was a disappointment to her parents. They loved her, but their love was not without conditions. For as long as she could remember, she understood that she was the last Burke, and she would write the final chapter in her family’s story. Her father taught her everything he would have taught a son while her mother raised her to be the perfect pureblood wife. Even as she learned the rich history and delicate intricacies of magic, she knew it was best to keep her curiosity to herself, to distract from her intelligence with grace and poise. Teen years; By the time she arrived at Hogwarts, Eavan had already built a network of friends and allies among her peers in the Sacred Twenty-Eight. It was no surprise when she was sorted into Slytherin, and she never told anyone the Sorting Hat recommended Ravenclaw. She made a place for herself among the snakes, a pureblood princess to match any of the Black sisters. She was intelligent, but never so bright as to outshine anyone important. She was social, but never friendly with the wrong sort. And of course, she was beautiful. She knew her place, and she made sure it fit her like one of her bespoke gloves. Present day; As her time at Hogwarts approaches its natural conclusion, Eavan can feel the walls closing in. She knows what is expected of her after graduation, marriage, children, parties, and she knows it doesn’t matter that the prospect bores her. What she wants has never been as important as what her family needs from her; her parents have made sure she understands that. As her classmates eagerly plan and prepare for their life after school, Eavan finds herself wishing she could stay in the castle forever.
