heya! I saw this super cute writer trope going around about what kind of fanfic do you write? This is all me. It’s smutty and pretty much canon compliant because I like flexing in the space. My stupid tags will always pretty much be hurt/comfort. 

I have written some hp centric stuff as @DarkBlue on AO3. Lately I’ve been on an absurd dragon age inquisition kick.

5: Favorite shop?

Always always always going to be Flourish & Blotts. Guys. A million books and writing paper and quills and new journals (I’ll buy and never use) and scroll covers and just…it’s the magical Paper Source.

7: Top five ships?

Canon: Jily HC: Wolfstar, Fredmione (I know it’s a small ship), Linny, Perciver

12: Owl, cat, or toad?

I’ve answered this before and I’ll answer it again. I have a cat right now. I love my cat. But I also know that as the oldest I would have wanted an owl and been SO happy to have an owl and then get to Hogwarts and get all frustrated because my two younger sisters would have cute cuddly cats in the dorms and just use my owl. So…yeah. A barn owl.

21. Centaurs, mermaids, or ghosts?

Centaurs! I mean, I’ve always loved the myth of centaurs and if you think about it anthropologically speaking centaurs and mermaids have an entirely other culture to be interested in. Ghosts are just echoes of people who can only tell you so much. So I’d be happy with either but the mermaids in HP kinda freak me out soooo yeah.

45: Favorite minor character?

Gosh this one took a minute because I was trying to classify ‘minor character’ and decided Fred and George or Tonks weren’t ‘minor’ even if they don’t technically get a lot of page time. The answer is Oliver Wood. But it was very nearly Susan Bones because what a badass who does NOT get enough page time (one of five, only one left alive because she was at her aunt’s with colic when the rest of the family was killed). Raised by a mofo high court judge who is like basically on the Wizarding Supreme Court get wrekd. Red hair? No hand me down robes? She’s strong and smart and brave. 

But honestly it’s Oliver Wood. Quidditch was one of the best parts of the books, and one of the reasons was the Original Team of the first three books. Skipping quidditch in years 4 and 5 was terrible for me, and made me miss those characters. Oliver winning the quidditch cup his last year of Hogwarts and bawling freely after being SO intense that Angelina ‘absorbed his ghost’ (e.g. that he somehow DIED from being so intense and was free from the shackles of school dramatics sports as soon as he graduated) made me love him. I also love his interactions with Fred & George, and of course Angelina, Katie, and Alicia.

47: Would you apparate?

TRY TO STOP ME. CAN’T STOP WON’T STOP. Like??? This is literally the most convenient way to travel!!?!? Even if there’s border patrols between countries, as someone who lives REALLY far away (across the country) from one sister, and half a country apart from her other sister and mom, this is like….GOALS. Like if I could just pop in and say ‘let’s get lunch’ any time I wanted…if I could live where I wanted and still go to work in a different city???? Yeah. I think about it a lot.

48: Favorite book?

It is, and will always be, Order of the Phoenix. Because of a lot of reasons, but mainly for a lot of character development and a lot of side plots, a super relatable villain, realistic feelings (though when I read it as a kid, I was annoyed at how angry/angsty Harry was, but now I’m like ‘honestly, the unrealistic part was that he wasn’t angrier and more messed up for longer.’) The destruction of Dumbledore’s office post Department of Mysteries is to me, the most realistic moment of grief and rage and reaction that Harry ever has.

27: Favorite Marauder?

WHY. WHY WOULD YOU EVEN -

Okay. So. I know it’s idiotic. And you guys don’t even KNOW. YOu dont even KNOW how much I love the Marauders. Like I’m on BOOK FIVE of writing a Marauders story like FIFTH BOOK MANY YEARS OF SLAVING so let me tell you that it’s a fucking hard draw between three of them (sorry Peter). 

But true to form and true to my heart, my favorite marauders and character in all of HP is Sirius Black.

Followed closely by Remus Lupin!!!!!

But Sirius Black was my first…hmmm…not true love. But my first…obsession with this weird blurring of a line that made me realize you could pity and care for an Adult (who he was to me, very much, reading POA and GOF and OOTP) and still rely on them for advice. Before that Adults were another breed. Authority wrapped in an air of knowing everything that of course kids can see through. But Sirius was different. He was funny and kind and approached Harry on his level and not condescendingly or with a bustling love that still directs his footsteps.

As the oldest child, I never had an older sibling to treat me that way, nor any adult treat me that way. I was on Harry’s side when Sirius invited him to the Order table. I was appalled at Mrs. Weasley for the hurtful things she said, “He’s not James.” And being told that Sirius and Harry were friends…not just family…that was a big revelation for me. 

And of course in later years I grew up and was like holy smokes he’s hot af and gay af only cemented my love for the Black sheep.

33. Animagus?

Ahhhh see this one is hard because JK’s answers to animagi have been so vague and contradictory over the years. It’s unclear how much CHOICE you get to put into it. The fact that Minerva McGonagall is both her patronus and animagus only muddies the waters. Your patronus is the strongest parts of you (your protector). That’s why Harry’s patronus is a stag, like his father, because he inherently believes that the best parts of him are like his dad. “You’re extraordinarily like your father, Harry.”

But if I got free will to choose anything? a goddamned DRAGON of course. Like??? what choice is this??? And before anyone argues ‘ you can’t be a dragon dragons are impervious to magical influence’ i know this. I also know that canonically dragons are cunning and intelligent, often with the ability to speak or mindspeak, not mindless munchy giant reptiles like they appear in GOF. BUT if I can’t be a dragon or another magical creature then it’d be cool to be a tiger because fuck hiding or anything else I’m here to maul.

3. Butterbeer, fire whisky, or pumpkin juice

Well OBVIOUSLY butterbeer but I feel like I would only really like the iced butterbeer so cold in the bottle versus the hot frothed butterbeer which just sounds like a hot butterscotch and rum monstrosity and as they say in Will & Grace, “What does buttered rum taste like?” “Hot butter.”

Also pumpkin juice is repulsive and should be expunged from the planet because have you guys eaten pumpkin puree??? HAVE YOU?? Well mix it up with apple juice and serve it to some kids.

Fire whisky is alright. 

1. Hogwarts House?

Better be… GRYFFINDOR!

Although Gryffindor is seen as the protagonist house/lazy sort house, I honestly believe that’s the house I would be in. Although I could see myself being sorted in Ravenclaw because I love books more than anything (and learning, and art, and writing), the thing at my core of what I am isn’t an artist or a writer or a scholar: it’s a Sister. And a Big Sister. And that means my greatest self-identifier is about protecting the ones I love and being wildly silly and ride-or-die loyal. So, in the end, I don’t even think I would have given the Sorting Hat much trouble at all, because it would have seen me for who I was deep down, despite being shy to the point of almost muteness at 11. 

18. Favorite Hogwarts Class?

Charms! 

I’ve heard floating around that Charms is the most like English-Lit class in the comparison. If you’re good with words and a big word nerd for grammar and syntax, figuring out how to parse sounds and ideas together to make new charms is a BIG fun puzzle day.
