I'm gonna be honest here and say it's probably because the song is genuinely the weakest of the 3 singles. If his plan was to appeal to the same crowd that 7 and 3D did then it failed because it's not about the sex appeal, it's about how insane JK solos and fans are (as well as the massive company push). Hoseok is too late to appeal to that crowd. While on the other hand, j-hope's own built-in fanbase does not love that approach either because it's shallow and the byproduct is a song not a lot of us genuinely love and want to stream because it's lacking the lyricism we all like and enjoy from him. Personally, the best way to consume this song is the live performances because at least the choreo is good, the song itself is really the bare minimum.

These singles were fun, a nice little project to see if he could try and amass more support from that side of that fuck ass fandom but now he can see for himself that it truly does not matter what he does, it's not going to get him more support from those people. So he should make music as he always has, doing whatever he wants, playing in any genre, playing around with concepts and just generally stop giving a fuck. Namjoon has already arrived at that place and he needs to join him. We get better music that way and not these TikTok challenge soundbites.

Honestly, hearing that made me feel a little sad. It also kind of helps situate the change in his sound recently? I don't hate the songs, but I think they do not have that special Hoseok^TM spark that I think of when listening to his earlier music. Of course, artists change, and their sounds change too...But also being aware that Hoseok has made very clear that he wants his music to chart...that makes me feel less enthusiastic about the change. I'm wondering if next album that he has been hinting about will also cater more towards a Top 40s pop sound. What I've secretly been hoping with this era is that he is trying to lure in more fans (maybe those that don't normally listen to BTS or Kpop) and gather a large fanbase and then release music that he wants to release. Like lure them in and bam actually here's what am I about

But I think that that is not realistic honestly. Especially since KIG has been his highest charting song on BB. I'm sure he and his team are interpreting this as ...well let's release more songs like KIG.

Do you want him to go down a specific route with his music? Like return to a certain sound that you think captures him best/he carries out best?

Every time I get a glimpse of his recent interviews I get more depressed, last time it was him confessing to ending his streak with letting Namjoon be the first to listen to his music, instead going to JK, probably because they are now making similar music, and that shook me to my core ngl so it effected my enthusiasm to watch/read more of his interviews tbh...

This does not bode well for my hope that he would make more rock inspired music, even if recent releases have already been moving further away from it and making that clear...

I really want him to stop caring about charts! I still hold firm that Neuron was the best song he released in Chapter 2 and that song didn't chart on BB at all. And it's still leagues above his recent songs that charted.

I kind of want him to sing from his heart again and just write more meaningful lyrics.

Pretty much said the same thing in my response to your other ask LOL, I care more for his lyrisism than I do what genre of music he makes, as long as I still get to know HIM as a person/artist through his songs then I'm all for whatever genre he wants to play in. But that's the thing when I talk about music I think is shallow vs music I think has depth. MAJORITY of Hoseok's music to me has depth because he tells us something about himself in his songs, his thoughts/feelings/opinions/desires/fears/etc. all through his past songs, how he sees himself as Jung Hoseok, j-hope, a member of BTS, a soloist, like he's put together a body of work that let's you know who he is and what his thougt processes are. And then we have these new songs that don't, they don't say anything about him specifically, maybe they do indirectly, but what does KIG, Mona Lisa, and Sweet Dreams say about j-hope the artist? Jung Hoseok as a person? What do they convey to us the listener? For me they don't say anything, so for me I think they're shallow. We used to have fun digesting his lyrics and what meaning they had, recently those conversations haven't existed.

He's the most phenomenal performer I've ever seen, I had amazing seats honesty so I got to see way more than I did at Lollapalooza and I was even more blown away by him. And yes he IS more gorgeous in person, BigHit can't tamper with him through editing so he's his most natural and gorgeous self! He's also just an incredible singer, pisses me off how much people are only coming around to how stable he is 'cause he always fucking has been, like what? Tonight before he went into the crowd to sing = (Equal Sign) he just started doing some like vocal lead-ins and he sounded so damn beautiful. On top of just slaying all his songs no matter how hard he was dancing during multiple of them.

He's also charismatic as fuck, and funny too. Like multiple times during the night he had us all laughing. Just such an incredible time. He's really a once in a lifetime kind of artist IMO I'd go to see him live for the rest of my life if I could...

I love my greek nerd hobi tho like he has mentioned it so many times in his music i wish i could sit with him and talk to him about his interests 🙁

Hoseok's love of literature, history, and mythology making it into his music is so fun and I love it! Knowing his dad influenced him with literature is one thing but history and mythology just being things he probably just enjoys on his own is a nice little tidbit of info to him as a person. Instead of the whole 'roman empire' thing for him it's more like 'greek mythology' and who can blame him, a lot of it is so fascinating and plays so well into his own idol persona. Using Pandora's Box to connect to his stage name j-hope and what hope means for/to him was so fucking good, while also combining it with the concept of a Jack in the Box, loved absolutely everything about it.

Hoseok's fluctuation in weight has always concerned me like pre-enlistment when he was overworked and it got so bad we could see his bones that shit scared the fuck out of me and yet if you brought it up people were like 'it's none of your business don't talk about his weight' like what?! Are we not allowed to be worried for his health when I can see his fucking ribs in photoshoots?????? Like bruh (the W Korea 2022 magazine shoot was so painfully obvious it's hard to look back on the content for it). Beauty standards be damned, unhealthy dieting PLUS knowing these idols are overworked make for a bad mix, and yeah, Hoseok is so obviously the type to fuss over every detail and commit 100% as much as he can and worry a great deal over everything. He's very particular like that, a workaholic and a perfectionist, so of course that's going to manifest some unhealthy habits and lifestyles which then leads to even unhealthier outcomes like stress-induced health issues, weight loss, and other illnesses.
